Spot admission for vacant seats for Advanced PG Diploma Programme in Communication
Engineering
Department of Optoelectronics, University of Kerala and Regional Telecom Training
Centre (R.T.T.C.), Trivandrum of Bharath Sanchar Nigam Limited, Government of India are
jointly conducting an Advanced PG Diploma Programme in Communication Engineering of
one year duration. The course will be started in November 2013. A number of seats belonging
to General and SC/ST categories remains vacant for this year admission. Spot admission to the
vacant seats is possible in a first come first serve basis from the eligible candidates. The
interested candidates with eligible qualifications are requested to appear for spot admission
with necessary certificates at the Office of the Department of Optoelectronics, University of
Kerala, Kariavattom-695 581, Thiruvananthapuram on or before 15.11.2013. The
candidates who wish to secure spot admission have to submit the filled application (application
form can be downloaded either from the University website or from the office of the
Department of Optoelectronics) along with the cost of application and registration fee of Rs.
500/- paid by either as University pay-in-slip*or DD** for Rs.500/- in favour of Finance Officer,
University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram.
* University pay-in-slip can be obtained by remitting Rs. 500/- either at University cash counters at
Kerala University Office Complex, Palayam, Thiruvananthapuram or Kariavattom Campus.
**DD drawn from SBl/ SBT/ District Co-operative banks payable at Thiruvananthapuram only be
accepted.

Eligibility for the course:
 B.E./ B.Tech or equivalent degree in Electronics/ Electrical & Electronics/ Electronics &
Communication/Applied Electronics & Instrumentation/ Electronics & Instrumentation/
Computer Science Engineering with at least 55 % marks or equivalent CGPA.
 OR
M.Sc. Degree in Physics/Applied Physics/ Photonics/Electronics with at least 55 % marks or
equivalent CGPA.
The minimum marks required for the eligible qualification for the SC/ST students is 50% or
equivalent CGPA.
Required certificates which are to be produced for admission:
1. S.S.L.C. or equivalent certificate.
2. Plus two or equivalent certificate.
 3. Degree certificate and mark lists of the qualifying examinations (1-8 semesters for
 B.Tech Degree or 1-4 semesters for M.Sc. Degree as the case may be)  4. Transfer certificate and conduct certificate from the institution last studied.
5. Eligibility certificate obtained from University of Kerala (for those who have passed
the qualifying examination from other Universities).
6. Caste and Income certificate for availing reservation.
 7. Two photos.
Fees Structure:
Cost of application and registration fee: Rs. 500/-
Miscellaneous fee: Rs.3000/-(To be paid at the time of admission)
Tuition fee for general category
1st Semester: Rs. 53399/- including service tax (To be paid at the time of admission)
2nd Semester: Rs. 53399/- including service tax (To be paid at the beginning of the II semester)
Tuition fee for sponsored category
1st Semester : Rs. 80099/- including service tax (To be paid at the time of admission)
 2nd Semester : Rs. 80029/- including service tax (To be paid at the beginning of the II semester)
Examination fee
Per semester : Rs. 2500/-
About the course:
Indian telecommunication industry is a highly dynamic sector, which is fast growing. The

like optical communication has also revolutionized the communication links with the unlimited

qualified engineers specialized in various disciplines of communication engineering. To fill up this
growing demand for qualified professionals in Telecommunication, University of Kerala along with
