Research Associate Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology Thiruvananthapuram

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for one position of Research Associate for a DBT funded project on 'Evaluation of cellular aging and genome stability in spermatogonial stem cells' in the laboratory of Dr. G Pradeep Kumar at Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:



  1. PhD in Biotechnology or Life Sciences.
  2. Experience in molecular biology and stem cell technology.
  3. Consistently good academic track record.
Age : Below 35 years as on 15th November, 2013
 
EMOLUMENTS : Rs. 22,000/- + 20% HRA per month.

DURATION : Three years or till termination of the project (whichever is earlier). However, the selected candidate will be assessed every 6 months and poor performance can lead to discontinuation of the appointment.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:


Minimum essential qualification is Second Class B.Sc. in Biological/Chemical Sciences. Previous experience in working in a modern molecular biology laboratory will be an added credit.
Age : Below 30 years as on 11th November, 2013

POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP FOR RESEARCH IN VENOUS DISEASES
Applications are invited from those interested in advanced scientific research on Venous Diseases, for a postdoctoral position in the Cardiovascular Disease Biology Division, Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram. This fellowship is supported by the Dr. N Radhakrishnan Foundation for Research on Venous Diseases with a purpose of providing advanced research training in “cutting edge” areas of venous disease research. Research proposals on any of the following themes would be considered, although any other clinically relevant themes in venous disease would also be considered.
  1. Venous system development
  2. Developmental anomalies of veins
  3. Cellular aspects of vein remodeling in pathological conditions
  4. Genetic and epigenetic analysis of venous diseases
  5. Developing animal models for venous diseases.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants should hold a Ph.D degree in Life Science or M.D. degree in Modern Medicine and a good academic record.

AGE: The applicants should preferably be below the age of 35 years (40 years in case of women candidates) as on 11th November, 2013.

DETAILS OF THE AWARD:
This Postdoctoral fellowship is a purely temporary assignment tenable for a period of 3 years. Fellowship will be as per norms prescribed by the Department of Biotechnology. Continuation of the fellowship during second and third years will subject to evaluation of progress in research.
All other selection procedures will conform to RGCB guidelines for post doctoral research that is available on the institute website.

No TA/DA is admissible for attending the interview. The selected candidate is expected to join Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology within a month after selection.

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for one position of Research Associate (or Senior Research Associate) and one position of Senior Research Fellow for a National Institutes of Health (NIH) & Department of Biotechnology (DBT) funded research project on "Systems Biology of Influenza A/H1N1 Vaccine Immune Profiling". The study is a collaborative venture between RGCB and the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota, USA with objectives to characterize immune responses to A/H1N1 over time, to characterize immune responses with vaccine immunogenicity and develop novel comprehensive immune profiles using next generation transcriptome sequencing and systems biology approaches. The study will be implemented in the laboratory of Professor M. Radhakrishna Pillai.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

RESEARCH ASSOCIATE/SENIOR RESEARCH ASSOCIATE

Essential Minimum Qualification
  1. PhD in Biotechnology or Life Sciences.
  2. Three years documented postdoctoral experience in cell and molecular biology to be considered for Senior Research Associate.
  3. Experience in molecular virology techniques
Additional preferred qualifications
  1. Experience in influenza biology and related techniques.
  2. Publications in peer reviewed journals.
Age : Below 45 years as on November 30, 2013.

Fellowship :
For Research Associate : Rs. 23,000 + 20% HRA (Year 1) and Rs. 25,000 + 20% HRA (Year 2)
For Senior Research Associate : Rs. 35,000 + 20% HRA
 
SENIOR RESEARCH FELLOW
Essential Minimum Qualification
  1. Master's degree in Life Sciences or Biotechnology with consistent first class academic record at both Bachelors and Masters Degree.
  2. A minimum of two years experience after Masters degree in cell and molecular biology with appropriate documented evidence.
Additional preferred qualifications
  1. Experience in molecular virology techniques.
  2. Experience in influenza biology and related techniques.
  3. Publications in peer reviewed journals.
Age : Below 35 years as on November 30, 2013.
 
Fellowship : Rs. 18,000/- + 20% HRA.
