The Centre of Biomedical Research (CBMR) at Lucknow established with aims to promote and
strengthen multidisciplinary areas of research and to create opportunity for extraordinary talented
scientists to research at the interface between Chemical, Biological, Medical Sciences and NMR
Spectroscopy. The centre focuses research in interfacing small molecule synthesis with Biology for
developing future medicines and therapies. The government has generously invested in CBMR to
create state-of-the-art facilities in molecular synthesis for Drug development and Discovery,
Chemical Biology, Cell Biology, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and NMR
Spectroscopy. CBMR is located in the centre of a green and colossal campus of Sanjay Gandhi Post
Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), Lucknow. The institute invites applications for
the faculty positions (Professors and Assistant Professors) in different disciplines from Indian
nationals who are exceptionally bright and motivated, with an established record of independent
research and commitment to publish high quality research in relevant area. Salary will be as per
the pay structure given below with allowances as admissible to the Government.

03 Posts for Assistant Professor in Molecular Synthesis for Drug Discovery and
Development
Essential Qualifications and Requirements:
1. PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry/Medicinal Chemistry with research publications in high
quality international journals and first class grade at the preceding degree from recognised
University/Institute in India or abroad with consistently good academic record.
2. Three Yrs of Post-doctoral experience in relevant area.
3. Below 35 Yrs of age at the time of application
Desirable Experience: Candidates having strong research background in organic synthesis, total
synthesis of structurally complex and medicinally important natural products/drugs related to
cancer, neurodegenerative diseases (neurotropically active molecules for Alzheimer's, Parkinson’s,
dementia etc) and infectious diseases such as malaria, TB etc. will be preferred.

Desirable Experience: Candidates having background in solution phase NMR research particularly
in methodological development for detection and quantification of enantiomeric species, simplifying
complicated spectra of complex organic molecules, improved pulse technique and exposure to
biomedical applications of NMR with published track record will be preferred.
01 Post for Professor in Chemical Biology/Synthetic Organic Chemistry
Requirement and Experience: An experienced candidate, having PhD in above mentioned area who
have made outstanding contribution to the science and have guided doctoral students (at least 10)
in the relevant area. The candidate is expected to work on new diseases targets at molecular level
and to co-ordinate this multidisciplinary research area. Minimum of 10 yrs of academic research
experience in which at least 4 years should be at the level of associate professor or equivalent is
required. Upper age limit should not exceed more than 50 years at the time of application.
01 Post for Professor in NMR/Disease Biology/Biomedical Science
Requirement and Experience: An experienced candidate having PhD in above mentioned area with
an outstanding contribution in relevant research area and have guided doctoral students (at least
10). The candidate is expected to work on new/critical diseases target. Minimum of 10 yrs of
academic research experience in which at least 4 years should be at the level of associate
professor or equivalent is required. Upper age limit should not exceed more than 50 years at the
time of application.
SUPPORT FOR PROFESSIONAL ADVANCEMENT OF FACULTY

No limit on the attendance of National/International conferences without institute financial
assistance.
The institute encourages interaction of the faculty with other research and professional
institutions and bringing up the research grant from professional funding agencies.
Professional visits within country and abroad can be undertaken for limited period to carry
out scientific research work.
Medical reimbursement/LTC for faculty as per government rules.
New pension scheme is applicable to the government employee joining after January 01,
2004.
