Research Positions in Tomato Functional Genomics
At the Repository for Tomato Genomics Resources (RTGR), we are working on
Tomato Functional Genomics, using TILLING, Insertional Mutagenesis, proteomics,
metabolomics and transgenics approaches to study and manipulate fruit ripening in tomato.
The current aims of the group include using reverse and forward genetics strategies to isolate
tomato mutants delayed in ripening, having high lycopene and folate content in tomato fruits
and analysis of light and hormonal signal transduction pathways. For recent publications of
the group see (Plant Physiol 161: 2085–2101, Plant Physiol 156: 1424-1438; Molecular
Plant 3: 854-869; Plant Methods 6: 3; Plant Methods 5:18; Plant Signaling and Behavior
5:11; Nature 485:635-641; Molecular genetics and genomics 287:189-203; Molecular
genetics and genomics 287:221-35).
Currently we need one project assistant position available in Dept. of Science and
Technology funded project entitled “Genetic manipulation of ripening-associated ERFs for the
regulation of ripening in tomato” under the supervision of Dr. Rahul Kumar, RTGR, Dept. of
Plant Sciences, School of Life Sciences, University of Hyderabad. The project assistant
position would be offered a consolidated pay of Rs. 8,000/-pm. The qualification for this
Research Position is as follows:
Project Assistant: M.Sc. Biotechnology/ Bioinformatics/Life Science
*Candidates who have their own CSIR/UGC-JRF fellowships would be given preference.
Candidates interested in above positions should send a one page Statement of Purpose clearly
explaining how their skills are relevant to the position. The candidates should also enclose detailed
CV and the name/email id for three referees. The candidates can send their application by email
at rahulrtgr@gmail.com on or before November 5th, 2013. The position is purely temporary in
nature. Shortlisted candidates would be called for interview. No TA/DA would be provided for
attending the interview. We also have openings for CSIR-NET JRF candidates for pursuing PhD
in above research areas. Interested candidates can send their CV to the above email addresses.
