Entering Students
In 2013-2014, the Haas School awarded approximately $5.5 million in scholarships to both domestic and international students. Listed below are the scholarships available for Full-time MBA students along with the essay question for each. With the exception of the Consortium Fellowship, all Haas Scholarships require completion of our Haas Online Scholarhsip Application after admission to be considered. Depending on the scholarship, a personal statement is required. Unless otherwise noted, the following are all two-year awards, one quarter of which is disbursed at the beginning of each semester.
We strongly encourage prospective students, for whom scholarships are a major decision factor, to apply for admission sooner rather than later. Funding for some scholarships is limited and will be fully awarded early in the financial aid cycle.

The Consortium Fellowship for Graduate Study in Management
The Consortium Fellowship for Graduate Study in Management is an alliance of top business schools working in partnership with corporations to encourage diversity in business. Candidates who apply, and are accepted through The Consortium, are considered for full tuition and fee fellowships. Applicants should apply for admission using The Consortium application.
Dean's Fellowships
Dean's Fellowships of $110,000 are awarded based on career potential as a "path-bending leader."

Provided by the generosity of Mr. David S. Ng. This $110,000 scholarship is awarded to students who exhibit strong potential for business, economic, or governmental leadership in their home country. Brian Maxwell Fellowship (Entrepreneurship) - Review Date 4/3/2014; Decision Date 4/28/2014
Established in memory of Brian L. Maxwell through the generosity of Jennifer Maxwell. The Maxwell Fellowship of $110,000 is awarded to individuals who have demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit and a drive to create and implement innovative projects, products, and ideas. Please include a resume with your application. Below are the application essay questions. Limit your response to 500 words each question.

Diversity Scholarships
Diversity Scholarships of $50,000 are awarded based on proven ability to promote diversity.
Required Personal Statement: More and more, industry leaders are realizing the value of diversity in the business world. That value can stem from racial and ethnic diversity, unique industry or job function, geographic location, gender balance, religious perspective, and more. UC Berkeley's own strategic plan calls for an emphasis on equity, inclusion, and diversity. Utilized properly diversity can facilitate new ideas - a competitive edge, and accommodate businesses looking to expand in the global marketplace. How have you promoted diversity or multiculturalism in the workplace and in business, through your professional or personal ventures Limit your response to 500 words.
Haas Achievement Awards
Haas Achievement Awards of $50,000 are awarded to individuals who have achieved tremendous success in spite of significant economic, educational, health-related, or other obstacles.
Required Personal Statement: Describe the significant obstacle or hardship you have faced in your life (i.e., economic, health-related, environmental, discriminatory, etc.). How did this impact you? How did you achieve success in spite of this adversity? Limit your response to 500 words.
Marketing Scholarships
The Marketing Scholarhsip of $50,000 is awarded to MBA students pursuing careers in Marketing.
Required Personal Statement: Provide examples of how you have excelled in Marketing as well as what your plans are to work in the Marketing industry. Limit your response to 500 words. Alternatively, if you feel your admissions career goal essay adequately addresses this question, please paste that essay into the scholarship application.
Berkeley MBA Grants
The Berkeley MBA Grant for $20,000 to $60,000 is awarded to students based primarily on significant financial need.
Required Personal Statement: Please explain why you need financial assistance. Discuss efforts you have made to secure supplemental funding, and elaborate on any special circumstances or hardships you currently face as applicable to the scholarships you selected in this application. Finally, provide details as needed on any resources listed in the application. Limit your response to 200 words.
CJ White Fellowships (Finance)
The CJ White Fellowship of up to $50,000 is awarded to MBA students pursuing careers in finance.
Required Resume and Personal Statement: What particular segment of finance interests you, what experiences have prepared you for this pursuit, what opportunities at Haas will help you along the way, and how do you see your career developing over the next ten years? Limit your response to 500 words. Alternatively, if you feel your admissions career goal essay adequately addresses this question, please paste that essay into the scholarship application.
Dr. Tahir Fellowships
Provided by the generosity of Dr. Dato' Sri Tahir. This scholarship for $40,000 is awarded to international students with a preference for those who completed their undergraduate education in Asia. The application process for this scholarship does not require a personal statement.
Center for Responsible Business - Alumni Scholarship - Review Date 4/3/2014; Decision Date 4/28/2014
This scholarship of $20,000 is awarded to students who best answer the questions below. Finalists will be asked to provide references and be available for an interview by phone or in person. Below are the application essay questions. Limit your response to 500 words.
- What does corporate responsibility / sustainability mean and why is it important to you
- Please describe how your life experiences and your background make you well-suited to become a CRB Alumni Scholar. These could be professional, community, or extracurricular activities that may or may not be reflected on your resume.

Mike and Carol Meyer Fellowships (Entrepreneurship and Engineering/Science interests)
Provided by the generosity of Mike Meyer and Carol Meyer. This $20,000 scholarship is to support students with an undergraduate degree in the fields of engineering or science as well as students who intend to pursue an entrepreneurial career. Entrepreneurship is the creation, or innovation, of products and opportunities. What makes you an innovator, an entrepreneur? Please describe how your background and future goals make you the best fit for this fellowship. Limit your response to 500 words.
The Coan Torres Family Fellowship
Provided by the generosity of Mr. Michael Torres. This one-year $10,000 fellowship is awarded to an MBA student with a commitment to promoting diversity in the workplace and business. The application process for this scholarship has the same question as the Diversity Scholarship.
The Blue Duck Scholarship
Provided by the generosity of alumnus John Natt (MBA '69). Awarded to an MBA student who has received his or her undergraduate degree from the University of Oregon. Award dependent on endowment payout available. This scholarship does not require a personal statement.
The Ulatowski Fellowship
Provided by the generosity of Mr. Tomek Ulatowski. This $20,000 scholarship is awarded to students who completed their undergraduate degree in Poland with a preference for those intending to return to Poland after graduation.This scholarship does not require a personal statement.
Yellow Ribbon Program
The Yellow Ribbon Program is a matching fund option for U.S. military veterans who served at least 36 months and qualify for 100% of the Post 9/11 GI Bill beneift. This scholarship does not require a personal statement. A copy of your Certificate of Eligibility (COE) is also required.
Haas Online Scholarship Application
An admitted student may submit a scholarship application by any of the review dates posted on the New Admit Website, regardless of the round in which they were admitted. The first three review dates are designed to allow us to provide application results before admits must submit their deposit. However, funding is limited and is not guaranteed in later rounds. Deadlines are subject to change. The Haas Financial Aid Office will send out an announcement if there are changes.
Please note that the need-based Berkeley MBA Grant, in addition to the online scholarship application, requires you to submit your most recent 1040 form (signed and dated) or equivalent tax return. If you have not filed yet for 2013, submit the 2012 tax form to us. If you have filed your 2013 tax return, you must submit the 2013 tax form to us. The same methodology applies to foreign tax returns and their respective tax years.
