Applications are invited for the following posts in the Jawaharlal Nehru University as
per detail given below:-
1. Hindi Translator- Group B- 01 Post (UR)- Pay Band-II Rs. 9300-34800 with Grade
Pay 4200/- Essential Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree. Diploma/Certificate in Translation from a recognized Institution.
Knowledge of Hindi typing desirable.
02 years translation work from English to Hindi and vice-versa in a Govt.
Department/Educational Institution or 05 years experience in Government Department etc.
Where Hindi is used for purpose of noting/drafting etc.
2. Wireman-Group C- 01 Post (ST)- Pay Band-I Rs. 5200-20200 with Grade Pay
2000/- Essential Qualifications & Experience:
Matriculation plus I.T.I. Trade Certificate in the Wireman/Electrician from the Govt.
Institution/recognized Govt. Institution by AICTE/State Govt.
Minimum two years experience in the maintenance of electrical installation such as internal
wiring, L.T. Switchgears, ACB’s street lighting, pump starter, control wiring of pump starter,
AMF panels for DG sets etc. Knowledge of safety precaution in the electrical installation,
electricity rules etc.
3. Cook –Group C- 06 Posts (UR-02, OBC-01, ST-02*, PWD-HH-01*) -Pay Band –I
Rs. 5200-20200 with Grade Pay 1900/-
*(These posts are being re-advertised in view of insufficient number of application
received in response to the earlier Advertisement No. Admn.II/1/2012 published in the
Employment News dated 15-21 September 2012. Candidates who had applied for the
above mentioned post in response to our earlier advertisement need to apply afresh).
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
Matriculation/ITI and 5 Years Experience as Cook in any recognised University
Mess/Educational Institute/ Restaurant/Hotel etc.
(Experience required from the candidates belonging to ST and PWD-HH Category can be
relaxed by one year respectively, being a repeat effort to fill up the post for said categories)
4. Office Attendant (MTS) –Group C- 04 Posts [SC-01, ST-01,OBC-01, PWD(HH)-
01] -Pay Band–I Rs. 5200-20200 with Grade Pay 1800/-
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
Matriculation/ITI and 02 years experience in any recognized University/Educational
Institution/Organisation and having experience in the following areas: (i) Diary/Dispatch/Movement of Register or making entries in the Computers;
(ii) Record Keeping:
(iii) Photocopying and preparation of sets;
(iv) General cleanliness & upkeep of the Section/Unit;
(v) Basic data entry on Computers;
(vi) Any Office related multi-tasking work.
General Conditions:
(i) Upper Age Limit: 35 years. Age relaxation will be given to SC/ST/OBC/PWD-HH
categories as per rule, applicable from time to time.
(ii) Candidate belonging to PWD Category should meet the prescribed criteria of physical
disability as applicable as per the Govt. of India rules for respective physically disabled
category.
(iii) 05 (Five) years age relaxation will be given to Departmental Candidates of the
Jawaharlal Nehru University.
(iv) Persons already in service in Govt./Autonomous Bodies/PSU should apply through
proper channel along with vigilance clearance and integrity certificate.
(v) Merely possessing the prescribed qualifications and requisite experience would not
entitle a person to be called for the Written Test/Trade Test/Interview.
(vi) The University reserves the right:
(a) to fix criteria for screening the applications so as to reduce the number of
candidates to be called for Written Test/Trade Test/ interview;
(b) to conduct written test to further shortlist the candidates in the event of large
number of applications are received. The written Test of multiple choice option
will consist of questions from General English, General Knowledge and from the
relevant area of the post applied for. The question paper will be bilingual and the
candidates will have the option to answer either in Hindi or in English ;
(c) to increase/decrease the number of vacancies at its discretion;
(d) to frame a panel for filling up future vacancies arising during tenability of panel
which shall be normally operative for one year;
(e) relax any of the age/qualifications/experience at its discretion; and
(f) not to fill up any of the advertised positions.
(vii) Written Test/Trade Test conducted for short-listing of candidates should not be
construed as a merit test. The selection will be made on the basis of performance in the
interview based on the recommendation of Selection Committee.
(viii) Reservation for OBCs shall not apply to certain persons/sections as mentioned in Govt.
of India, Deptt. of Personnel & Training OM No.36012/22/93-Estt. SCT dated 8.9.1993
as amended from time to time. Reservation for OBC is applicable only to those
mentioned in the Central List of OBC’s as mentioned in OM No.12011/68/93-BCC (C)
dated 10.09.93 and as amended from time to time.
(ix) The candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PWD categories are required to submit their
respective caste/disability certificate in the latest format prescribed by the Govt. of
India.
(x) TA will be paid to the outstation candidates, belonging to the reserved category (i.e.
SC/ST/OBC/PWD), towards both ways second class railway fare/ordinary bus fare by the shortest route from the railway station which is nearest to their normal place of
residence (present address) or from the railway station from which they actually
perform the journey, whichever is nearer, to the place of Written Test/Trade
Test/interview subject to production of tickets. The University rules do not permit for
payment of local conveyance for appearing in the Trade Test/interview.
(xi) An application fee of Rs. Rs. 300/- (non-refundable) is to be paid with the application in
the form of Bank Draft drawn in favour of “Finance Officer, JNU” payable at New
Delhi. No fee is payable by the SC/ST & PWD candidates if they apply for the
posts reserved for their own category.
(xii) Incomplete applications are liable to be rejected and no correspondence will be
entertained.
(xiii) Applications received after last date shall not be entertained and the University will not
be responsible for any postal delay.
The eligible and interested persons may apply in the format given below along with the
prescribed fee (wherever applicable), one latest passport size photograph and attested copies of
the certificate of educational qualifications, date of birth, experience, caste & PH certificates
etc. to Recruitment & Data Cell, Room No. 310, Administrative Block, Jawaharlal Nehru
University, New Delhi-110067 within 30 days of the publication of this advertisement in the
Employment News (Ref. Employment News dated 12th - 18th October 2013). The last date of
receipt of applications is 11th November 2013. The post applied for must be clearly
superscribed on the envelope containing the application. Applications received without proof
of required experience certificate (duly attested) will be outrightly rejected without any
intimation.
