IIM Rohtak Doctoral Programme in Management (Fellow Programme in Management (FPM))


The Indian Institute of Management Rohtak (IIM Rohtak) aims at becoming a global leader in creation and dissemination of management knowledge and to be India’s future global learning center. It recognizes that no premier academic institution of higher learning will be able to create and sustain excellence without strong emphasis on world class research. In line with the its vision and planning, IIM Rohtak invites applications for its Doctoral Programme in Management (Fellow Programme in Management (FPM)) for the academic year 2014-15. It has incorporated the strengths of similar programmes in other IIMs and other major institutions and has included specific innovative features as per the emerging needs. IIM Rohtak sees the Fellow Programme as a crucial source of management researchers and teachers of top quality both to the academic institutions including IIMs and to the industry, business, government and society. 
The FPM of IIM Rohtak has the following objectives.
1. It aims at developing high quality researchers and teachers for academic institutions in India and abroad.
2. It envisages itself as a leading source of top quality management experts and thinkers for business
organizations, government and society in India and abroad.
The programme duration is four years, but it can be completed any time after three years. The Programme can be extended upto 4 ½ years. The participants are given a monthly fellowship, a contingency grant, waiver of tuition fees, support to attend national international/national conferences and support for research visits to global partner institutions.
Admission is open to all Indian citizens, Non-Resident Indians, Persons of Indian Origin and other foreign citizens.  Admission will be based on academic qualifications, performance in the qualifying examinations, personal interviews and work experience.  Candidates will be assessed for their intellectual abilities and research aptitude.

Admission: The admission to FPM of IIM Rohtak is open to all Indian citizens, non-resident Indians, persons of Indian origin living abroad and other foreign citizens. Admission is based on academic qualifications, performance in the qualifying examination/tests, personal interviews and the work experience. The programme is fully residential and for four years with an option of finishing in three years.
Eligibility: The candidates should have at least one of the following qualifications: Post-Graduate degree or equivalent in any discipline with at least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA; Qualifications of CA, ICWA or CS with at least 50% marks; Professional qualifications such as MBBS, LLB and similar qualifications with at least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA; 4-year Engineering degrees, viz., B.Tech and B.E, with at least 60% marks or equivalent CGPA; and candidates with qualifications equivalent to MBA as approved by the Association of Indian Universities.
Qualifying Examination: A candidate should have a valid test score not older than two years from the date of application in any of the following tests: CAT conducted by IIMs; GMAT/GRE (General/Advanced); UGC/CSIR JRF (other JRFs will not be considered); GATE; and PGDM of IIMs not older than 5 years.
Candidates possessing PGDM of IIMs with a minimum CGPA of 5.5 out of 10 or equivalent will be eligible for applying directly (i.e., without again taking  qualifying examination). Those appearing for the final eligibility exams can also apply; but, their final selection will be subject to successful completion of the requirement.
Personal Interview: The shortlisted candidates will be assessed for their intellectual capabilities, research aptitude and interest in the management discipline in person during April 2013. Interviewed candidates will be reimbursed III AC train fare by the shortest route.
Fellowship: The participants of the FPM will be given a fellowship of Rs. 25,000/- per month in the first and second years; and Rs. 30,000/- per month for the third and fourth years. In addition to this, a merit fellowship of Rs. 10,000/- per month in the second year and Rs. 15,000/- per month in the third and fourth years is given to the deserved participants. All the participants will receive a total contingency grant of Rs. 1,85,000/- for the 4-year period. The participants will be partially supported to attend national and international conferences, and academic visits with the partner institutions. Participants are exempted from paying tuition fees and certain other selected charges.
