The MBA (PE) Programme
The Institute developed and launched the MBA (PE)
programme in 1981-82 to meet the specific needs of
practicing managers. It is the only course, which addresses
the needs of Public Sector Enterprises in the context of
liberalization and seeks to improve the productivity and
competitiveness of Indian industry.
Admission Procedure
In-service candidates qualified in ICET on the basis of
the rank list are called for exclusive counseling by the
Directorate of Admissions, Osmania University, subject
to fulfillment of eligibility conditions as laid down by
Osmania University from time to time (listed hereunder)
are admitted for provisional admission into MBA (PE) at
the Institute of Public Enterprise, Hyderabad.
Eligibility Conditions
Qualification: A pass in the Bachelor's Degree from Osmania
University or a Degree recognized by the University as
equivalent thereto. In case of SC and ST candidates a pass
in the qualifying examination is sufficient.
Experience : Minimum two years experience in Executive /
Managerial / Administrative / Supervisory position in any
organization after obtaining the Bachelor's Degree.
or
Officers/Executives /Engineers working with any
government/quasi-government/ autonomous bodies/
local authorities with a minimum of 2 years experience
after obtaining the bachelor's degree.
or
Officers of the Defence Forces / establishment holding
administrative, executive post with not less than 2 years
experience after obtaining Bachelor's Degree.
Full-Time
Post Graduate Programmes
The full time post graduate programmes have been started
with the specific purpose of meeting the requirements of
the industry. It is also aimed at developing and honing
the skills of the students so as to enable them to serve the
industry from day one. The Programme Structure, Method
of Teaching, Assessment Schemes and the details of each
of the programmes are as follows:
Programme Structure
The programme structure is designed to meet the needs
of the industry and is in conformity with the AICTE guidelines.
The first year of the Programme is devoted to the basic
courses, which deals with the important areas of business
management, marketing & retail management, banking,
insurance and financial services so as to provide the students
with the opportunities to study and acquire the skills, which
are essential to formulate and solve the problems of the
industries. At the end of the first year, students undergo
six weeks of summer internship in reputed enterprises for
industry exposure and to gain hands-on experience of
working in a business organization.
The second year is devoted to the study of vital issues
of strategy and implementation. The students will get
an opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge in select
areas of Marketing and Retail Management, Financial

Financial Markets & Wealth Management, and
Entrepreneurship. They will also undertake a long term
project for an intensive study of managerial issues in their
areas of interest in reputed organizations. Need based
non-credit courses are also provided.
Method of Teaching
The teaching method consists of theoretical as well as
practical sessions and includes lectures, exercises and
case studies. Faculty at IPE prepares cases and present
to the students. The sessions are mostly interactive and
participative for better learning and comprehension.
In order to groom the students to smart professionals,
quizzes and surprise tests are conducted to tap the
potential within the students. These are in addition to
the continuous evaluation by the faculty through out the
semester. In order to relate the classroom knowledge
to shop floor experience, industrial visits are conducted.
In addition, seminars and guest lectures by the captains
from business enterprises are also conducted.
Assessment Scheme
Students are required to maintain 85% attendance in
each subject in each semester. The Institute follows
a system of continuous, mid-term and end-term
examination scheme for its students. As far as the
appraisal is concerned, the student is evaluated on a
continuous basis by each member of faculty throughout
the semester on parameters such as attendance,
behaviour, punctuality, class-room performance with
respect to oral presentations, written assignments
and group discussions, as well as the extra-curricular
activities. Semester wise, the mid-term examinations are
conducted in each of the subjects followed by end-term
examinations which are designed to test the acquisition
of knowledge and learning skills the students in each of
the subjects during the semester.
Sanskriti and Samathis
The Institute organizes Sanskriti a National level
Business School Management Festival every year to
bring out competitive and organizational skills of
the students. Sanskriti is a synonym for culture and
joyous expression of creativity, which involves
refinement and transformation. It provides a platform
for budding managers all over the country to exhibit
their talent and skills in various aspects of management.
It also provides a scope for industry and institute/
student interaction.
The Institute has a tradition to conduct Samathis.
Samathi meaning Meeting of the Finest Minds provides
an opportunity for the students for organizing team
work and event management. The students take
active part in organizing these events, compete among
themselves and also write and present papers in various
functional domains. Experienced persons from the
industry interact with students during the Samathis. All
these provides for a very good experiential learning for
the students. The Samathis are conducted focusing on
various functional domains such as Finance, Marketing
and Retailing, Human Resources Management,
Operations and Management Information Systems.

Study of the commercial activities of ports is an integral

a cost of tour to one or two large commercial ports such

Visakhapatnam). The study tour familiarizes them with
the port's commercial activities, shipment, handling,
logistics, on-line monitoring systems, port operations,

Executive Post Graduate Diploma

The AICTE approved 15 months program is specially
designed for practicing executives aspiring to assume
higher management responsibilities and become
change agents in reputed organizations. The program
has been designed to inculcate in-depth functional
knowledge in general management as well as problem
solving, strategic thinking, leadership and decision making
skills to hone professionals out of the candidates to suit
various industries and functional disciplines.
Course Structure
The programme is spread over 12 months in terms
of course work and 3 months of project work. The
course work is divided into three terms, each with four
months duration. Students will have to complete one
industrial project of three months duration. However,
the number of subjects, credits allotted for subjects,
term modules including project work is subject to

Eligibility
The candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree, with at
least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of SC/
ST/PC candidates), of any of the universities or declared
to be deemed as a university or possess an equivalent
qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD,
Government of India.
Candidates appearing for the final year degree
examination (or equivalent examination) can also apply.
The proof of acquiring the required qualification should
be submitted within four weeks from the date of the
commencement of the course.

Criteria
1. Candidates have to appear at the Admission Test (CAT/

2. Obtain, fill in, and submit the IPE application form to
IPE.
3. Short listed candidates will be called for Group
Discussions and Personal Interviews to be held at IPE
and at major cities / towns during March 2013.
4. Final selection will be based on the performance of
the candidates at the Test, Group Discussions, Personal
Interview and consistent Academic Record.
Weightage for Admission
Equal weightage shall be given to the performance in
Admission Test, Group Discussions, Personal Interviews
and Consistent Academic Record.

Hyderabad 500 007 by payment in cash of Rs 750/- (incl.
processing fees) or by a crossed demand draft for Rs 750/-

Course Fees
The fee for the two-years is ₹. 7.00 lakhs (Rupees Seven
lakhs only) which covers tuition fee, reading material,
computer lab, library facilities and free laptop.
Hostel
₹. 0.85 lakhs (Double occupancy), ₹. 1.25 lakhs (Single
occupancy) per year, which includes room, mess charges,
etc.
Merit-cum-Means Freeships
The Institute of Public Enterprise has instituted a scheme
of awarding Scholarship and Merit-cum-Means Free-ship
schemes to extend financial support to students pursuing
their studies for the PGDM Programmes. The scheme
aims to recognize and promote merit and provide
access to students from weaker sections of society
with low income to pursue their studies for the PGDM
Programmes. Scholarship and full / half Merit-cum-Means
Free-ships have been instituted to achieve this objective.
The number of scholarships and Merit-cum-Means Free
ships will be restricted to 10 percent of the total intake in
these programmes.

Full-Time
Post Graduate Programmes
The full time post graduate programmes have been started
with the specific purpose of meeting the requirements of
the industry. It is also aimed at developing and honing
the skills of the students so as to enable them to serve the
industry from day one. The Programme Structure, Method
of Teaching, Assessment Schemes and the details of each
of the programmes are as follows:
Programme Structure
The programme structure is designed to meet the needs
of the industry and is in conformity with the AICTE guidelines.
The first year of the Programme is devoted to the basic
courses, which deals with the important areas of business
management, marketing & retail management, banking,
insurance and financial services so as to provide the students
with the opportunities to study and acquire the skills, which
are essential to formulate and solve the problems of the
industries. At the end of the first year, students undergo
six weeks of summer internship in reputed enterprises for
industry exposure and to gain hands-on experience of
working in a business organization.
The second year is devoted to the study of vital issues
of strategy and implementation. The students will get
an opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge in select
areas of Marketing and Retail Management, Financial

Entrepreneurship. They will also undertake a long term
project for an intensive study of managerial issues in their

non-credit courses are also provided.
Method of Teaching
The teaching method consists of theoretical as well as
practical sessions and includes lectures, exercises and
case studies. Faculty at IPE prepares cases and present
to the students. The sessions are mostly interactive and
participative for better learning and comprehension.
In order to groom the students to smart professionals,
quizzes and surprise tests are conducted to tap the
potential within the students. These are in addition to
the continuous evaluation by the faculty through out the
semester. In order to relate the classroom knowledge
to shop floor experience, industrial visits are conducted.
In addition, seminars and guest lectures by the captains
from business enterprises are also conducted.
Assessment Scheme
Students are required to maintain 85% attendance in
each subject in each semester. The Institute follows
a system of continuous, mid-term and end-term
examination scheme for its students. As far as the
appraisal is concerned, the student is evaluated on a
continuous basis by each member of faculty throughout
the semester on parameters such as attendance,
behaviour, punctuality, class-room performance with
respect to oral presentations, written assignments
and group discussions, as well as the extra-curricular
activities. Semester wise, the mid-term examinations are
conducted in each of the subjects followed by end-term
examinations which are designed to test the acquisition
of knowledge and learning skills the students in each of
the subjects during the semester.
Sanskriti and Samathis
The Institute organizes Sanskriti a National level
Business School Management Festival every year to
bring out competitive and organizational skills of
the students. Sanskriti is a synonym for culture and
joyous expression of creativity, which involves
refinement and transformation. It provides a platform
for budding managers all over the country to exhibit
their talent and skills in various aspects of management.
It also provides a scope for industry and institute/
student interaction.
The Institute has a tradition to conduct Samathis.
Samathi meaning Meeting of the Finest Minds provides
an opportunity for the students for organizing team
work and event management. The students take
active part in organizing these events, compete among
themselves and also write and present papers in various
functional domains. Experienced persons from the
industry interact with students during the Samathis. All
these provides for a very good experiential learning for
the students. The Samathis are conducted focusing on

Study of the commercial activities of ports is an integral

a cost of tour to one or two large commercial ports such

Visakhapatnam). The study tour familiarizes them with
the port's commercial activities, shipment, handling,
logistics, on-line monitoring systems, port operations,
etc.

Executive Post Graduate Diploma
in Management (Exe. PDGM)
The AICTE approved 15 months program is specially
designed for practicing executives aspiring to assume
higher management responsibilities and become
change agents in reputed organizations. The program
has been designed to inculcate in-depth functional
knowledge in general management as well as problem
solving, strategic thinking, leadership and decision making
skills to hone professionals out of the candidates to suit
various industries and functional disciplines.
Course Structure
The programme is spread over 12 months in terms
of course work and 3 months of project work. The
course work is divided into three terms, each with four
months duration. Students will have to complete one
industrial project of three months duration. However,
the number of subjects, credits allotted for subjects,
term modules including project work is subject to
change depending on the contemporary richness and
relevance to industry.

Admission Procedure
Eligibility
The candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree, with at
least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of SC/
ST/PC candidates), of any of the universities or declared
to be deemed as a university or possess an equivalent
qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD,
Government of India.
Candidates appearing for the final year degree
examination (or equivalent examination) can also apply.
The proof of acquiring the required qualification should
be submitted within four weeks from the date of the
commencement of the course.

1. Candidates have to appear at the Admission Test (CAT/
XAT/MAT/ATMA/CMAT).
2. Obtain, fill in, and submit the IPE application form to
IPE.
3. Short listed candidates will be called for Group
Discussions and Personal Interviews to be held at IPE
and at major cities / towns during March 2013.
4. Final selection will be based on the performance of
the candidates at the Test, Group Discussions, Personal
Interview and consistent Academic Record.
Weightage for Admission
Equal weightage shall be given to the performance in
Admission Test, Group Discussions, Personal Interviews
and Consistent Academic Record.

The application form can be obtained from the Admissions
Officer, Institute of Public Enterprise, O.U.Campus,
Hyderabad 500 007 by payment in cash of Rs 750/- (incl.
processing fees) or by a crossed demand draft for Rs 750/-
drawn in favour of “Institute of Public Enterprise”, payable
at Hyderabad, to receive the application form by post.

Course Fees
The fee for the two-years is ₹. 7.00 lakhs (Rupees Seven
lakhs only) which covers tuition fee, reading material,
computer lab, library facilities and free laptop.
Hostel
₹. 0.85 lakhs (Double occupancy), ₹. 1.25 lakhs (Single
occupancy) per year, which includes room, mess charges,
etc.
Merit-cum-Means Freeships
The Institute of Public Enterprise has instituted a scheme
of awarding Scholarship and Merit-cum-Means Free-ship
schemes to extend financial support to students pursuing
their studies for the PGDM Programmes. The scheme
aims to recognize and promote merit and provide
access to students from weaker sections of society
with low income to pursue their studies for the PGDM
Programmes. Scholarship and full / half Merit-cum-Means
Free-ships have been instituted to achieve this objective.
The number of scholarships and Merit-cum-Means Free
ships will be restricted to 10 percent of the total intake in
these programmes.
