Sambalpur University invites applications in the prescribed form from eligible candidates for the
appointment of 10 posts: Professor-06 (Environmental Science, History, Political Science & Public
Administration, Mathematics, Library & Information Science, Sociology), Reader-01 (English) and
Lecturer-03 (Anthropology, Law, Economics) for its P.G. Departments, Jyoti Vihar, and L.R. Law
College, Sambalpur. The details of the posts including required qualifications, specialisation, scales of
pay, mode of obtaining application form and other general information are available at
www.suniv.ac.in. The last date of receipt of application form is 30.11.2013. After scrutiny of the
applications received, a list of eligible candidates will be uploaded at the same website.

Essential Qualification
For Arts, Humanities, Sciences, Social Sciences and Law
Professor
− An eminent scholar with Ph.D. qualification(s) in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline and
published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with evidence of published work
with a minimum of 10 publications as books and/or research/policy papers.
− A minimum of ten years of teaching experience in university/college, and/or experience in
research at the University/National level institutions/industries, including experience of guiding
candidates for research at doctoral level.
− Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology -
mediated teaching learning process.
− A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based
Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS), set out in the UGC new Regulation in Appendix III
of UGC Regulation.
OR
− An outstanding professional, with established reputation in the relevant field, who has made
significant contributions to the knowledge in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline, to be
substantiated by credentials.
Reader
− Good academic record with a Ph.D in the concerned/relevant subject.
− A Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading
system is followed)
− 5-years of experience of teaching and/or research, excluding the period for obtaining Research
degree, and has made some mark in the areas of scholarship as evidenced by the quality of
publications, contribution to educational innovation, design of new courses and curriculum.
− In addition a candidate must have at least three research publications.
Lecturer
− Good academic record with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever
grading system is followed) at the Master’s degree level in a relevant subject from an Indian
University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
− Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test
(NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET. NET/SLET/ET
shall also not be required for such Masters Programmes in disciplines for which NET/SDLET/SET is not
conducted.
− Notwithstanding anything contained in the aforesaid clauses candidates who are or have been
awarded a PhD degree from any recognized university prior to 11.7.2009 and candidates who will be
awarded PhD degree prior to last date of application but must have registered for PhD Degree before
11.7.2009 are exempted from NET/SLET/SET etc.
− A relaxation of 5% may be provided at the graduate and Master’s level for the Scheduled
Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Differently-abled (Physically and Visually differently-abled) categories for the
purpose of eligibility. Relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible, based on
only the qualifying marks without including any grace mark procedures.

Application Forms:
1. In Person can be obtained from the Store & Purchase Section of the University Administrative
Block on payment of Rs. 500/- (Rs.125 for ST/SC candidates) in the Cash Counter.
2. By Post can be obtained by post on remittance of Rs.550/- (Rs.175 for ST/SC candidates) in
the shape of demand Draft drawn in favour of the Comptroller of Finance,
Sambalpur University, payable at State Bank of India, Jyoti Vihar Branch, along with
an unstamped envelope of size 23cm x 10 cm.
3. Through Internet can be downloaded from the University website (www.suniv.ac.in) and be
submitted along with a Demand Draft of Rs. 500/- drawn in favour of the
comptroller of Finance, Sambalpur University, payable at State Bank of India, Jyoti
Vihar Branch.
4. In Plain Paper: Candidates from abroad applying for any of these posts can apply in plain paper
along with copies of all the required documents in seven copies and requisite fees in
Indian Currency.
General Information
1. The application form duly filled in by the candidate must be supported by attested copies of all
certificates, Mark sheets, Evidence of teaching, research experience and production of Ph.D. scholar,
copies of published articles, certificate containing the record of date of birth, CCR/APR.
2. Candidates are required to submit seven copies of Application Form and seven copies of Summary Sheet
in the prescribed format. However, one set of attested certificate, mark sheet and published articles may
be submitted.
3. Candidates for Professor post only are required to submit the API Score Card in the prescribed format
along with the application form.
4. Candidates are required to attend the interview, on their own expenses.
5. Candidates are required to produce their original certificates/testimonials for verification at the time of
interview.
6. ST/SC/SEBC candidates must furnish the Caste Certificate issued by the competent authority.
7. SEBC certificate must have been issued by the competent authority with in the last three years from the
date of advertisement in the prescribed form.
8. Applications of the In-service candidates are liable to be rejected, if not routed through the concerned
employer or they may produce NOC of the employer at the time of interview. However candidates may
submit an advance copy of the application to save delay.
9. The Reserved vacancy for S.T. shall be exchanged with S.C. in the event of non-availability of suitable S.T.
Candidate and vice-versa.
10. Incomplete forms shall summarily be rejected.
11. In-service candidates should ensure that CCRs/Performance Appraisal Report of last five years are
received by the undersigned confidentially before the date of interview.
12. Issue of this advertisement does not make it binding on the part of the University to make appointment.
13. All correspondence relating to the appointment shall be made to the undersigned by designation and not
by name.
14. The University reserves the right to shortlist eligible candidates.
15. Canvassing in form will amount to disqualification.
