th POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN RURAL DEVELOPMENT MANAGEMENT
(PGDRDM) January 2014 to December 2014
National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD) is a premier
national center of excellence in rural development. It builds
capacities of the rural development functionaries, elected
representatives, academicians and young students through
inter-related activities of teaching, training, research, action
research and consultancy. The NIRD faculty comprises
experienced academicians and development practitioners.

announces its seventh fully residential One-year ‘Post
Graduate Diploma in Rural Development Management
(PGDRDM)’ with an aim to create a committed and
competent cadre of Rural Development professionals in the
country. The programme seeks to impart management
techniques that will enhance the understanding of the
paradigm and practice of rural development.
ELIGIBILITY: Graduation in any discipline from a
recognised University. Students who are in the final year and
expect to complete all the requirements of graduation before

st January, 2014 may also apply. Some seats are reserved
for the sponsored Indian in-service candidates. Indian inservice candidates should possess at least two years of work
experience in rural development and allied sectors and are
required to apply through their employers.
SELECTION PROCESS: Selection of candidates including
Indian in-service candidates will be made through a process
of All-India Entrance Test which will test the verbal,
quantitative and analytical competencies of the students
including English Language. Group Discussion and Personal
Interviews will be conducted for the short-listed candidates.
However, a separate merit list will be prepared for the
regular and in-service students.
ENTRANCE TEST: The Entrance Test will be conducted on
November 24, 2013 at the following centres: Bengaluru,
Bhopal, Bhubaneswar Dimapur, Guwahati, Hyderabad,
Jaipur, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, New Delhi, Patna, Pune
and Thiruvanantapuram. However, the NIRD reserves the
right to cancel any of the centres or add new centres for any
administrative reasons and assign any other centre to the
applicants.
TOTAL NO. OF SEATS: 50 (may undergo some change
depending upon the availability of infrastructure. Of
these, up to 5 seats may be allotted to the Indian inservice candidates).
PROGRAMME DURATION: (One year) January, 2014 to
December, 2014
COURSE FEE: For Open / OBC Category `1.60 Lakhs
(excluding boarding and lodging) For SC/ST/PWD category
`1.50 Lakhs (excluding boarding and lodging)
Board and Lodging: The annual board and lodging
expenses will be approximately `1,00,000. Accommodation
will be given to the students in the NIRD hostel.
Caution Deposit: A refundable Caution Deposit of `10,000
is to be paid along with the first trimester fee.
Seat Registration Fee: Upon selection, a non-refundable
Seat Registration fee of `30,000 should be paid by the
Indian students. This amount will be adjusted against the
first trimester fee.
SCHOLARSHIPS: The North Eastern Council, Shillong, may
consider giving fellowships to economically backward
students of North Eastern states.
RESERVATION: Reservations for the students of the
SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer) and Persons with Disability
(PWD) will be made as per Government of India’s policies.
PLACEMENT: NIRD will endeavour to make
placements on successful completion of the PGDRDM,
but does not guarantee. However, all the students of
the previous Batches of the PGDRDM have been
placed. The same trend is expected to continue.
HOW TO APPLY: Prospectus-cum-application form can be
downloaded from our website (www.nird.org.in/pgdrdm).
The filled in application form should be submitted along with
the application fee of ` 500 (`300/- for SC/ST and PWD
candidates) through an Account Payee Demand Draft drawn
in favour of NIRD - PGDRDM, payable at Hyderabad.
The filled in application form should be sent to the
Coordinator Admissions, Centre for Post Graduate
Studies (CPGS), National Institute of Rural
Development, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad-500030
(A.P), India, so as to reach on or before 11.11.2013.
Last date for receipt of applications from the students of
North Eastern States, Jammu & Kashmir, Andaman & Nicobar
Island and Lakshadweep is 16.11.2013. Applications
received after the cut off date shall be rejected. NIRD
reserves the right to make changes to the Diploma
Programme, its design/content and the process of selection,
depending upon the exigencies without assigning any
reasons whatsoever.
