The National Centre for Radio Astrophysics, Pune [NCRA] of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research [TIFR] [an autonomous institute under the umbrella of the Department of Atomic Energy of the Government of India] is an internationally reputed research institute. NCRA-TIFR is located inside the Pune University Campus. Facilities operated by NCRA-TIFR include, the Ooty Radio Telescope (ORT) and the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT). Located about 80 KM north of Pune, GMRT is the world's largest radio telescope at metre wavelengths. NCRA is on the lookout for suitably qualified candidates for the following positions:

Essential Qualification: BE/ B.Tech. in Electronics/ Instrumentation Engineering with minimum 60% marks in aggregate from a recognized Institute.
1(a) Experience: 2 years of experience in design, development and testing of Radio Frequency circuits and receivers with proficiency in analog and digital electronics and familiarity with laboratory test equipments such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators and network analyzers, electronic printed circuit boards and motion control systems.
Candidates with knowledge of programming and familiarity with professional RF design software will be preferred.

Job Description: He/ She will assist in design, development and testing of RF, analog and digital electronics required for radio astronomy pedagogical experiments required for Radio Physics Laboratory and will assist in procurement of laboratory equipment as well as Radio Physics Laboratory's training programs.
1(b) Experience: 2 years of experience in design, development and testing of Radio Frequency circuits and receivers with proficiency in analog and digital electronics and familiarity with laboratory test equipments such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators and network analyzers, electronic printed circuit boards.

Job Description: He/She will assist in design, development and testing of RF, analog and digital electronics required for proposed radio astronomy space payloads and assist in technical aspects of the feasibility studies for future radio astronomy experiments from space. He/She will also assist in collating material on technical development from collaborating partner institutions and may have to travel to the collaborating partner institutions for this purpose.
Age: Below 28 years for UR candidates and below 31 years for OBC candidates (as on 1st July 2013).

Experience: 2 years of experience in design, development and testing of analog and digital electronics required for development of science and technology exhibits. Candidates with a flair for science and technology popularization OR having worked at a recognized science museum OR flair for designing easy experiments which demonstrate an important scientific or engineering concept will be preferred. Experience in measurements for Electromagnetic Interference/Compatibility will also be preferred.
Job Description: He/ She will assist in procurement of science exhibits and development of new science exhibits for a proposed GMRT Visitor Centre and will assist in all tasks related to design of the Visitor Centre. The candidate might be required to visit science centres in the country and design models which showcase and explain principles in science or technology for visitors ranging from school children to college students. In the construction phase, the candidate might be required to supervise the progress.

Experience: Candidate with 2 years of experience in design, development of electronic printed circuit boards and motion control systems. The skill set should include expertise in analog, power and digital electronics and embedded systems, and 'C' Programming.
Job Description: A new Next Generation Servo Control System for GMRT antennas is being commissioned. “Motion Control Engineers” are being sought to participate in the manufacture, testing and commissioning of the Brushless drive system, the development of indigenous Brushless drive and in development of innovative methods for integrating feed drive to main-axes Position Control system of GMRT antennas.

Job Description: He/ She will assist in analysis and visualization of test data from prototype built for proposed space payload, preparation of timely test reports and collating all scientific material required for the feasibility studies for proposed space payloads

Project Appointments are temporary, to be renewed each year, based on a performance review, up to a total period of 3 years.
