For Law Programs: LL.M from a recognized university with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade.

• For Interdisciplinary Programs: Post graduation or equivalent qualification in the area of proposed research with minimum 55% mark or equivalent grade.

Note: Degrees obtained in distance mode / correspondence mode or from an Open University will not be considered.

• Candidates must send duly filled application forms along with the processing-cum-application fee of Rs.3,000/- in the form of bank draft drawn in favour of “Registrar, National Law University Odisha” and payable at Cuttack.

Selection Procedure Submitted application forms will to be screened, and candidates found eligible will be required to appear for an entrance examination on 10th December 2013.

• Foreign nationals and candidates who have passed the NET or JRF examinations are exempted from appearing in the entrance examination.

Instructions to Candidates

Applicants are required to submit the following:


1. Completed application form
2. A proposal of not more than 5000 words, containing:
a. Title of the proposed research
b. Statement of the problem, along with the background information on the subject
c. The scope, objectives and limitations of the proposed research
d. A set of research questions or hypothesis
e. A broad description of methodologies intended to be followed
f. A tentative research design containing chapterization

3. Attested photocopies of eligibility qualification certificates and mark sheets;
4. One set of published papers, monographs, articles and books (if applicable);
5. Certificate from the Institution concerned testifying the length of service (if
required) ;
6. A passport size photograph.

post/courier or delivered by hand at the following address:

The selection process is as follows:

 Submitted application forms will to be screened, and candidates found eligible will be

 Foreign nationals and candidates who have passed the NET or JRF examinations are

are not conducted, appearing for the admission examination is mandatory.
 Successful and exempted candidates are required to appear before a panel of experts and
present their research proposals.

 The date and time of presentations shall be intimated at a later date.  The decision of the panel on the presentation will be intimated separately.

Candidates
Admission Test
a) There shall be a written test which will consist of two papers
i) Paper I – Research Methodology
ii) Paper II – Research Proposal specific paper

b) Each paper shall carry maximum of 100 marks and the candidate securing not less than 50%
marks in each paper will qualify for making an oral presentation before the expert panel.


Fee Structure (PhD):

Application Fee Rs. 3,000/-
Registration Fee Rs. 25,000/-
Coursework Examination Fee Rs. 1,000/-
Thesis Evaluation Fee (at time of submission of thesis) Rs. 20,000/-
Continuation fees if not completed within three years
Rs. 10,000/- per year for a maximum
of 2 years.
Thesis Resubmission in fee (if applicable) Rs. 20,000/-


Fee Structure (MPhil):

Application Fee Rs. 2,000/-
Registration Fee Rs. 45,000/-
Thesis Evaluation Fee (at time of submission of thesis) Rs.10,000/-
Thesis Resubmission Fee Rs. 20,000/-

Accommodation will be provided to candidates depending on
availability. Candidates interested in availing of these facilities shall be
required to pay hostel, library, internet and other charges at regular
rates.
