IIITD&M Kancheepuram PhD programmes 2014

The Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing (IIITD&M), Kancheepuram is inviting applications for admission into its PhD programmes 2014. 

The Institute offers PhD programmes in the disciplines of Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering and Physics.

Eligibility Criteria The Candidates with a Masters degree in Engineering/Technology i.e ME/M.Tech./ M.Des./ MS / Master’s degree in Sciences with a good academic record and with a valid GATE score or UGC/CSIR NET/NBHM or equivalent qualification in the relevant area tenable for the year of registration are eligible for the programme.

Application Fees
The candidate can pay the application fee of Rs. 250 in the form of a Demand Draft drawn in favour of the Registrar, IIITD&M Kancheepuram payable at Chennai. The fee is Rs. 125 in case of SC/ST/PD/Female Candidates.

Admissions to the Ph.Dprogrammes offered by the Institute in various areas / disciplines are based on academic performance and performance in the written test and /or interview conducted by the institute.

The Institute offers Ph.D programs in the core ares of engineering namely electrical, electronics, computer science and mecanical engineering and allied areas of mathematics and physics. Faculty members of the institute are doctoral degree holders from institutions of repute and scholars can register for full time Ph.D under the guidance of institute faculty members. Research scholars can work in areas of mutual interest to them and to the faculty members, whose area(s) of interest / specialization are listed in the individual faculty profile. Research scholars are generally admitted twice in a year (July / January sessions) based on performance of the candidates in written and / or interview conducted by the institute. Advertisement calling for Ph.D applications in the respective sessions are released in leading national dailies, a copy of which will also be available in the institute website. Registered Full time Ph.D scholars of the institute are awarded half time teaching assistantship (HTTA) / stipend as per the norms laid down by MHRD, Govt. of India. As part of the regulations of the Ph.D programme, scholars shall be expected to complete around 4 courses (can vary based on the recommendations of the Doctoral Committee) and clear a comprehensive viva-voice exam during the initial stages of Ph.D programme and secure publications in journals & conferences of repute as stipulated by the Ph.D regulations of the institute in the later years and submit a thesis of the research work carried out.
