INTRODUCTION
1. The Andhra Veterinary College was started on 15th July, 1955 at Bapatla. Subsequently, the College
was shifted to Tirupati during 1957 under the control of Sri Venkateswara University. Consequent
to the formation of A.P. Agricultural University (presently named as Acharya N.G.Ranga
Agricultural University), this college came into its fold from July 10, 1964.
The College of Veterinary Science, Tirupati celebrated its Golden Jubilee year during July, 2004-
2005. The then Hon’ble Chief Minister, while inaugurating the Golden Jubilee Celebration on 30th
September, 2004 announced the formation of Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University at Tirupati
by bifurcating ANGRAU. This was done keeping in view of the improvement of livestock and
aquaculture farming for the overall development of the economy of the poor farming community of
the State. Accordingly the Andhra Pradesh State Government enacted Act.No.18 of 2005 which
came into force on june 21, 2005.
The College of Veterinary Science, Rajendranagar was started at Osmania University Campus in
the year 1946. Later on it was shifted to the present premises in A.N.G.R. Agricultural University in
the year 1968. From 10-7-1964 to 20-6-2005, it was under the control of Acharya N.G.Ranga
Agricultural University. After the formation of Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University, two
colleges came into SVVU control from 21-06-2005. The college celebrated its Diamond Jubilee
during 2005-2006.
The third Veterinary College in the state viz. NTR College of Veterinary Science was started at
Gannavaram in Krishna District during the Academic Year 2000-2001 and the fourth Veterinary
College was established at Proddatur in Kadapa District during the academic year 2008-09 and the
fifth Veterinary College was started at Korutla in Karimnagar District during the Academic Year
2008-09.
The College of Fishery Science was established in the year 1992 at Muthukur, Nellore District.
The Mandate of the University is to strengthen teaching, farmer oriented research and extension
activities in Veterinary and allied fields.
The university imparts instruction leading to the P.G. degree courses in the faculties of Veterinary
Science, Fishery Science and Dairy Science at its constituent colleges at Tirupati, Rajendranagar
(Hyderabad), Gannavaram and Muthukur of Nellore District.

2. The number of seats available in each major field of study are as shown in Appendix - II
Qualification for admission
3. (a) Candidates seeking admission into any of the following Master’s Degree courses must have passed
the relevant Bachelor’s Degree examination specified against each course from Sri Venkateswara
Veterinary University /ANGR Agricultural University or an institution accredited by ICAR/VCI.

In the above qualifying examination, the candidates must have secured minimum OGPA of
6.00/10.00 for general category (for SC/ST/PH-5.00/10.00) or 2.50/4.00 for general category
(2.00/4.00 in case of SC/ST/PH ) or 60% marks in traditional system (for SC/ST/PH-55%).
Only residents of AP are eligible for admission except in case of ICAR Quota.
Candidates with PG qualification are eligible for admission into second PG programme but
such candidates are not eligible for stipend. Candidates who are already prosecuting MVSc
are eligible to apply for PG admission in another discipline. But stipend paid with interest will
be recovered and his/her earlier admission shall stand cancelled irrespective of stage of
standing. However such candidates are eligible for stipend in fresh course.
(b) Age: The upper age limit is 40 years as on 01-07-2013
4 (a) Reservation for Local & Non-Local candidates: Reservation of seats for candidates belonging to
different local areas of the state shall be as per rules (Appendix-I)
(b) Reservation for S.C, S.T and B.C. candidates: 15%, 6% and 29% of the seats in each course of
study shall be reserved for the candidates belonging to SC, ST and BC respectively as per the existing
Government rules. 4
(c) Physically challenged candidates: 3% seats are reserved for physically challenged candidates as per
the Government norms.
(d) Reservation for women: 1/3rd of the total seats shall be reserved for women. If no lady candidate is
available it will be filled up by men. A combined roster will be maintained.
Note: As it is not possible to represent all social groups/local areas in a single discipline, in courses with
more than one major field, candidates belonging to different social groups shall be distributed in
different major fields of study available in such courses. (Reservation for Muslim candidates shall
be as per the norms of the AP State Govt.
5. Criteria for selection
(i) M.V.Sc/M.F.Sc: The selection of the candidates shall be based on the previous academic record
(B.V.Sc & A.H /B.F.Sc–30%, Intermediate 10+2-10%, 10
th Class-5% and achievements in extra
curricular activities 5% and performance in Entrance test 50% ).
The entrance test shall be comprehensive one, covering all relevant subjects prescribed for the
concerned Bachelor degree requirements of this University as per VCI MSVE-1993 Regulations.
The Entrance Examination paper contains only multiple choice questions. The candidates getting
40% or more marks in entrance test only are eligible for admission. However, in case of SC/ST/PH
candidates, there are no minimum qualifying marks and candidates are admitted to the extent of
seats reserved for them.SC/ST/PH candidates claiming seats under general category have to obtain
atleast 40% marks in the entrance test.
(ii) Weightage as indicated below will be given subject to a maximum of 5 marks on production of
certificates for achievement (Prizes/Medals) in NCC/NSS/Sports/Games/Cultural/Literary activities
at B.V.Sc & A.H/B.F.Sc:
International Level - 3marks, National Level - 2marks, Inter University Level-1mark
Note: In case of a tie, marks obtained in entrance test shall be considered for tie breaking. For
further tie breaking date of birth shall be considered and older candidate shall be preferred.
(iii) The candidates applying for admission should appear for Entrance Test at their own expenses.
(iv) Information about the qualifying candidates in entrance test will be displayed on University website
www.svvu.edu.in on 13-12-2013. Selected qualifying candidates shall have to produce necessary
Certificates, pay fees and register the courses at the concerned college (to which they are allotted)
by the prescribed date. Failure to do so entails forfeiture of claim for seat.
6. Enclosures to the applications: The candidates should submit copies of the following certificates
along with the application. Documents enclosed to the application shall not be returned. Hence
candidates are advised to enclose only copies of the following certificates.
a) A Demand Draft for `.600/for general category and `.300/- for SC/ST/PH category
candidates.
b) Two self addressed (with PIN code) envelopes affixing postage stamps of Rs.5/- on each.
c) Memoranda of marks (all years) obtained at the qualifying ( B.VSc & A.H/B.F.Sc level)
examination or transcript, 10+2 (Intermediate) and 10th class examinations.
d) Provisional/degree certificates of the qualifying examination.
e) Study Certificates from the Heads of recognized Institutions or Residence Certificate or
a certificate from the employer as the case may be (Vide Appendix). Those who have
continuously studied in recognized educational institutions should enclose study
certificates. Residence Certificates will not be accepted in such cases. Those who have a
break in the year of study for reasons other than failure or those who passed the
examination by private study should submit residence certificates in the prescribed
proforma enclosed in annexure. 5
f) Social Status Certificates issued by the competent authority in case of candidates
belonging to BC/SC/ST. The admissions given under this quota shall be provisional till the
genuineness of the social status claim of the candidate is certified by the respective
Departments of the Government.
g) Certificate towards achievements at B.V.Sc&AH/B.F.Sc level in NCC/
NSS/Sports/Games/Cultural/Literary activities at International (Representing
Nation)/National level (Representing State) Inter-University level, if applicable.
h) Date of birth certificate or S.S.C certificate where date of birth is mentioned.
i) Physical disability certificate, if any
j) Certificate showing the formula for conversion of OGPA/CGPA into marks in respect of
candidates who passed their examination from universities other than S.V.Veterinary
University and A.N.G.R Agricultural University.
7. The candidates who are selected for admission should submit the following certificates/
documents in original at the time of admission in addition to the originals of certificates
listed above.
i) Migration Certificate if the candidates passed qualifying examination from a University
other than SVVU.
ii) Transfer Certificate from the College/Institution where the candidate last studied.
8. If any of the required certificates are not enclosed, the Hall Ticket for entrance test will not be
issued. The candidates who fail to submit provisional/degree certificate of qualifying
examination before the date of entrance test will not be issued hall ticket and they not allowed
for the entrance test.
9. Those already employed shall send their applications through their employers so as to reach
the University before the last date prescribed. Applications of employed candidates which
are not submitted through employer shall not be considered and will not be called for
entrance test. Such candidates who hide the information on employment shall be
debarred from appearing the entrance examination in future.
10. How to apply:
The applications shall be downloaded from the University website, www.svvu.edu.in.
The downloaded and duly filled in downloaded application along with attested copies of
required certificates and a crossed Demand Draft for `.600/- towards Registration
(`300/- in case of SC/ST/PH candidates) drawn on any Nationalized bank favouring
Comptroller, SVVU, payable at Tirupati, should reach the Registrar, SVVU,
Administrative Office, Dr.Y.S.R. Bhavan, Tirupati – 517 502 on or before 23-11-2013 by
4.00 p.m. either in person or by Registered Post with Acknowledgement due. Application
received after this due date will summarily be rejected. Candidates who are in
employment should send their applications through proper channel. The University is not
responsible for any postal delay.
11. The hall tickets will be sent by post in advance to the candidates. However, those who do not
receive hall tickets may log on to university web site to ascertain, if their name is there in the
list of eligible candidates a duplicate hall ticket can be obtained from the Controller of
Examinations, SVVU, Tirupati on 8-12-2013, duly producing identity proof.

12. General
i. If a particular course is offered in more than one college, allotment of students to a
college shall be based on the local area to which the candidate belongs. PG students
should necessarily complete the PG programme in the College where they joined.
However, they can conduct research work elsewhere with the prior permission of the
University.
ii. The PG students should not be on the active rolls of employment of Government or
University or any other organization (private or public) while fulfilling the minimum
residential requirement of the course.
iii a. PG students should not register for any other degree/diploma programme concurrently on
regular or part-time basis either in this University or in any other University/Educational
Institution.
b. Those who were withdrawn from M.V.Sc/M.F.Sc courses in SVVU for not maintaining
minimum OGPA and again applying during subsequent years, should appear for the
entrance test and seek admission afresh.
c. Those who joined M.V.Sc/M.F.Sc courses in SVVU but could not complete the
requirement and applying again shall appear for entrance test. However, stipend if any
paid earlier shall be recovered in full.
iv. All admissions shall be deemed as provisional and subject to further scrutiny. The
admission shall be liable for cancellation without notice at any stage during the study of
the students if it is found that his/her admission is in any way repugnant to the rules/
regulations or invalid by reason of incorrect or false information furnished by the
applicants or their parents/guardians at the time of admission. Any cancellation of
admission shall not exclude penal action under the relevant criminal law.
v. The University reserves to itself the right to cancel or vary any of these rules without prior
notice.
vi. Based on the marks a merit list of qualified candidates is prepared and displayed on the
University Website.
vii. Counseling will be done for allotment of seats in subjects and college based on the merit
and the decision of university is final in this regard.
viii. The in-service candidates sponsored by Government or Industry are exempted from
appearing in entrance test.
ix. The ICAR seats if remain vacant shall be filled by University with fresh candidates
belonging to A.P. who appeared for entrance test.
x. There shall be counseling for the purpose of filling seats. Allotment to colleges is purely
on merit and first come first served basis.
xi. Only residents of A.P. are eligible for admission except in case of ICAR quota.
xii. No candidate including nominees sponsored by Government/Industry shall be admitted
after 15 working days of the commencement of semester.
xiii. If seats reserved for ST category are not filled up, they shall be open to SC category and
vice versa. In the event of candidates from SC & ST are not available these seats shall be
allotted to the candidates under open competition. If qualified candidates belonging to
BC of particular group are not available the left over seats will be adjusted for the
candidates of next group. If qualified candidates belonging to BC are not available to fill
up the seats reserved for them, the left over seats shall be allotted to open category. 7
xiv. Claims of candidates shall not be considered, if they are absent when called at the time of
counseling. But they can appear for subsequent counseling if any, in case of remaining
vacancies at the end of counseling only.
xv. If physically challenged category candidates are not available those seats shall be filled
as per Government orders.

APPENDIX - I
Reservation of seats in favour of Local/Non Local candidates
(In accordance with the A.P. Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admissions) Order,1974.)
A. (i) Admission to 85% of the seats in each major field of study after excluding those reserved
for the candidates from outside the State, shall be reserved in favour of and allocated
among the local candidates in relation to the local area in respect of the Andhra
University and Nagarjuna University; Osmaina University and Kakatiya University;
and Sri Venkateswara University in the ratio of 42:36:22 respectively.
(ii) While determining the number of seats to be reserved in favour of the local candidates
under sub para (i) any fraction of a seat shall be counted as one provided that there shall
be at least one unreserved seat.
(iii) While allocating under Sub-Para (i) the reserved seats among the local candidates in
relation the different local areas., fraction of seat shall be adjusted by counting the
greatest fraction as one and if necessary also the greater of the remaining fractions as
another, and where the fraction to be so counted cannot be selected by reason of the
fractions being equal the selection shall be by lot, provided that there shall be at least one
seat allocated for the local candidates in respect of each local area
(iv) If a local candidate in respect of a local area is not available to fill any seat reserved or
allocated in favour of a local candidate in respect of local area, such seat shall be filled as
if it had not been reserved.
Local Candidates
1. A candidate for admission to any course of study shall be regarded as a local candidate in relation
to a local area:
a) If he has studied in an educational institution or educational institutions in such local area for a
period of not less than four consecutive academic years ending with the academic year in which he
appeared or, first appeared in the relevant qualifying examination as the case may be. OR
b) Where, during the whole or any part of the four consecutive academic year ending with the
academic year in which he appeared or, as the case may be, first appeared for the relevant
qualifying examination, he has not studied in any educational institution, if he has resided in that
local area for a period of not less than four years immediately preceding the date of
commencement of the relevant qualifying examination in which he appeared or, first appeared as
the case may be.
2. A candidate for admission to any course of study who is not regarded as a local candidate under
sub paragraph(i) in relation to any local area shall:
a) If he has studied in educational institutions in the State for a period of not less than seven
consecutive academic years ending with the academic year in which he appeared or, as the case
may be, first appeared for the relevant qualifying examination be regarded as a local candidate in
relation to;
i) Such local area where he has studied for the maximum period out of the said period of seven
years;
OR
ii) Where the periods of his study in two or more local areas are equal, such local area where he has
studied last in such equal periods:
OR

b) If, during the whole or any part of the seven consecutive academic years ending with the academic
year in which he appeared or as the case may be, first appeared for the relevant
qualifying examination, he has not studied in the educational institutions in any local area, but has
resided in the state during the whole of the said period of seven years, be regarded as a local
candidate in relation to:
i) Such local area where he has resided for the maximum period out of the said period of seven
years;
OR
ii) Where the periods of his residence in two or more local areas are equal, such local area where
he has resided last in such equal periods.
Explanation: For the purpose of this paragraph.
i) “Educational institution” means a University or any educational institution recognized by
the state Government or a University or other competent authority:
ii) “Relevant qualifying examination” in relation to admission to any course of study, means
the examination a pass in which is minimum educational qualification for admission to
such course of study:
iii) In reckoning the consecutive academic years during which a candidate has studied, any
period of interruption of his study by reason of his failure to pass any examination shall
be disregarded. Any period of his study in a State-wide University or a State-wide
Educational Institution shall also be disregarded:
iv) The question whether any candidate for admission to any course of study has resided in
any local area shall be determined with reference to the places where the candidate
actually resided and not with reference to the residence of his parent or other guardian.
Local Area
The part of the State comprising the districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagraram, Vishakhapatnam, West
Godavari, East Godavari, Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam shall be regarded as the local area in respect of the
Andhra University / Nagarjuna University. The part of the State comprising the districts of Adilabad,
Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Karimnagar, Khammam, Mahaboobnagar, Medak, Nalgonda, Nizambad and
Warangal shall be regarded as the local area in respect of Osmania University/ Kakatiya University. The
part of the State comprising the districts of Anantapur, Kadapa, Kurnool, Chittoor and Nellore shall be
regarded as the local area in respect of Sri Venkateswara University/SKD University.
B. The following categories of candidates will be considered against the 15% of the available seats
left unreserved.
a) All candidates belonging to different local areas (AU, OU, and SVU) indicated above.
b) Candidates who have resided in the State for a total period of ten years excluding periods of
study outside the State or either of whose parents have resided in the State for ten years
excluding period of employment outside the State;
c) Candidates whose parents are employed by the State or Central Government / Public Sector/
Corporations/ Local Bodies/Universities and similar other Quasi-Government Institutions
within the State.
d) Candidates who are spouses of those employed by the State or Central Government/Public
Sector/ Corporations/ Local Bodies/ Universities and similar other Quasi –Government
Institutions within the state.
e) Candidates who are employed by the State, Central Government Undertakings/ Public
Institutions within the state. 10
Note:
• State means Andhra Pradesh
• If the number of available seats does not exceed 3 in a major field, the provisions relating to
reservation in favour of local candidates shall not apply.
• In case of candidates who passed B.V.Sc & A.H./B.F.Sc from Sri Venkateswara Veterinary
University /A.N.G.R. Agril. University only the period of study prior to joining the University will
be reckoned for determining the Local/Non-local status of the candidate.

Industries in all the PG disciplines put together.

INTRODUCTION
1. The Andhra Veterinary College was started on 15th July, 1955 at Bapatla. Subsequently, the College
was shifted to Tirupati during 1957 under the control of Sri Venkateswara University. Consequent
to the formation of A.P. Agricultural University (presently named as Acharya N.G.Ranga
Agricultural University), this college came into its fold from 10-7-1964.
The College of Veterinary Science, Tirupati celebrated Golden Jubilee year from July, 2004-2005.
The then Hon’ble Chief Minister, while inaugurating the Golden Jubilee Celebrations on 30th
September, 2004 announced the formation of Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University at Tirupati
by bifurcating ANGRAU. This was done keeping in view of the improvement of livestock and
aquaculture farming for the overall development of the economy of the poor farming community of
the State. Accordingly the Andhra Pradesh State Government enacted Act.No.18 of 2005 which
came into force on 21-06-2005.
The College of Veterinary Science, Rajendranagar was started at Osmania University Campus in
the year 1946. Later on it was shifted to the present premises in A.N.G.R. Agricultural University in
the year 1968. From 10-7-1964 to 20-6-2005, it was under the control of Acharya N.G.Ranga
Agricultural University. After the formation of Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University, it came
into its control from 21-06-2005. The college celebrated its Diamond Jubilee during 2005-2006.
The third Veterinary College in the state viz. NTR College of Veterinary Science was started at
Gannavaram in Krishna District during the Academic Year 2000-2001 and the fourth Veterinary
College was established at Proddatur in Kadapa District during the academic year 2008-09 and the
fifth Veterinary College was started at Korutla in Karimnagar District during the Academic Year
2008-09.
The College of Fishery Science was established in the year 1992 at Muthukur, Nellore, District

activities in Veterinary and allied fields.

2. ADMISSIONS
Number of seats
The details of seats available for fresh candidates for admission into Ph.D course in various major
fields of study are as shown in APPENDIX.
3 (A) Qualifications
Master of Science or an equivalent examination in Veterinary Science from SVVU/ANGRAU or
from an institution accredited by ICAR in the concerned field of specialization with at least 70%
marks in the aggregate under traditional system of examination or an OGPA of 2.7 or above in 4.00
point scale or OGPA of 6.50 or above in 10.00 point scale in grade point system. In the case of SC,
ST and PH candidates, 60% marks in the aggregate under traditional system in Master of
Veterinary Science under traditional system or OGPA of 2.5 out of 4.00 or 6.00 out of 10.00 under
Grade Point system is sufficient. The Basic Degree i.e. B.V.Sc & A.H. is essential.
The candidates awaiting final thesis viva voce result may apply. But they have to produce
provisional certificate on or before the date of entrance examination failing which they shall not be
allowed for entrance examination.
For admission into Ph.D in the following specializations in Veterinary Science, candidates who
posses M.V.Sc. in the major fields specified against each are also eligible.

3 (B) Age: The upper age limit is 50 years as on 01-07-2013 including ICAR senior Research fellowship
holders.
In-service/Fresh candidates belonging to other states shall be treated as fresh candidates and seats
for them shall be over and above the allotted seats. However they will not be eligible for stipend.

4. RESERVATIONS OF SEATS
15%, 6% and 29% of the seats are reserved for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes,
Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes respectively.
3% seats are reserved for physically disabled candidates as per the Govt. norms.
1/3rd of the total seats shall be reserved for women. If no lady candidate is available it will be filled
up by men.
Provided that the rules of reservation shall be so implemented that the first candidate in the merit
list of any major field of discipline shall not be denied a seat. Provided further that the above
provision shall not be applicable in making admission to a major field or discipline in which there is
only one seat.
In case of disciplines with more than 3 seats, 85% of seats after excluding those reserved for
candidates from other states, shall be reserved in favour of candidates belonging to Andhra
University, Osmania University and Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University, local areas in the
ration of 42:36:22 respectively. (Vide AP Educational institution (Regulation of Admissions) order,
1974 amended from time to time).
5. CRITERIA FOR SELECTION: The Weightage of marks will be as follows:
• Entrance Test : 50
• M.V.Sc level : 20
• B.V.Sc level : 10
• Interview performance : 20

The qualifying marks in the entrance test shall be 50%. In case of SC/ST/PH candidates, there are
no qualifying marks to the extent of seats reserved for them.
In case of a tie, the candidates who secured higher marks at M.V.Sc level shall be preferred. In case
of a further tie, the marks obtained at B.V.Sc level shall be considered. For further tie breaking, date
of birth shall be considered and older candidates shall be preferred.
6. SELECTION COMMITTEE
Selection of candidates for admission to Ph.D courses shall be made by a Selection Committee
constituted by the Vice-Chancellor. The candidates who are eligible for admission to the course
should appear for entrance test and interview before selection committee at Sri Venkateswara
Veterinary University, Tirupati at their own expenses.
7. CERTIFICATES/DOCUMENTS OTHER ENCLOSURES NEEDED
The candidates should submit copies of the following certificates along with the application:
Documents enclosed to the application shall not be returned. Hence candidates are advised to
enclose only copies of the certificates.
a. Memoranda of marks (of all years) obtained by the candidates at B.V.Sc and M.V.Sc level
Examinations or Transcripts of the above examinations.
b. Provisional/degree certificates of the above examinations.
c. Date of Birth Certificate (SSC Certificate)
d.Candidates belonging to Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes should
enclose, social Status Certificate issued by the competent authority. The admission given under
this quota shall be provisional till the genuineness of the Social Status claims of the candidates
are certified by the respective Departments of the Government.

e. Physical disability certificate, if any
f. Study certificates from Heads of recognized educational institutions from VI class onwards.
Those who appeared for any examination by private study should enclose residence certificate.
g. Certificate showing the formula for conversion of OGPA/CGPA into marks in respect of
candidates who passed their examination from Universities other than A.P. Agricultural
University/ANGRAU/SVVU.
h. Demand Draft for `.600 /- for general category (`.300 /- for SC/ST/PH students)
i. Two self addressed (with pin code) envelopes affixing postage stamps of `. 5/- on each
The originals of the above certificates should be produced at the time of interview and submitted at
the time of admission.
8. If any of the required certificates are not enclosed, the Hall Ticket for entrance test will not be
issued. The candidates who fail to submit provisional /degree certificate of qualifying examination
before the date of entrance test will not be allowed for the entrance test by not issuing hall ticket.
Those already employed shall send their applications through their employers so as to reach the
University before the last date prescribed. Applications of employed candidates which are not
submitted through employer shall not be considered and will not be called for entrance test and
interview. Such candidates who hide the information on employment shall be debarred from
appearing for entrance examination in future.
9. How to apply:
The applications shall be downloaded from www.svvu.edu.in. The downloaded and duly
filled in application along with attested copies of required certificates and a crossed Demand Draft
for `.600/- towards Registration (`.300 /- in case of SC/ST/PH candidates) drawn on any
Nationalized bank favouring Comptroller, SVVU, payable at Tirupati, should reach the Registrar,
SVVU, Administrative Office, Dr.Y.S.R.Bhavan, Tirupati – 517 502 on or before 23-11-2013 by
4.00 p.m. either in person or by Registered Post with Acknowledgement due. Application received
after this due date will summarily be rejected. Candidates who are in employment should send their
applications through proper channel. The University is not responsible for any postal delay.
Those already employed must send the applications through their employers so as to reach
on or before the last date prescribed. However, they may send advance copies of applications with
certificates to avoid delay in forwarding of applications by the employers.
10. The Hall Tickets will be sent by post in advance to the candidates. However, those who do not
receive hall ticket may log on to University web site to ascertain. If their name is there in the list of
eligible candidates a duplicate Hall ticket can be obtained from the Controller of Examinations,
SVVU, Tirupati on 8-12-2013, duly producing identity proof.
11. General
i. All admissions shall be deemed as provisional and subject to further scrutiny. They shall
be liable for cancellation at any stage during the study of the students if it is found that
admission is in anyway contrary to the rules or invalid by reason of incorrect or false
information furnished by applicants or their parents/guardians at the time of admission.
Any cancellation of admission shall not exclude penal action under the relevant criminal
law.

ii. The Ph.D students should not be on the active rolls of employment of Government or
University or any other organization –private or public – during the period of fulfilling the
minimum residential requirements for the course.
iii a. The candidates should not register for any other degree/diploma programme and continue
the studies concurrently on regular or part-time basis either in this University or in any
other University/Educational Institution.
b. Those who were withdrawn from Ph.D courses in SVVU for not maintaining minimum
OGPA and again applying during subsequent years, should appear for the entrance test and
seek admission afresh.
c. Those who joined Ph.D courses in SVVU but could not complete the requirement and
applying again shall appear for entrance test. However, stipend if any paid earlier shall be
recovered in full.
d. Those who completed Ph.D course in one discipline and applying for admission into a
different discipline shall not be considered for admission.
v When the same course is offered at more than one campus, the University reserves the
right to allot a student to any of the campuses irrespective of the region to which he/she
belongs.
vi The University reserves to itself the right to cancel or vary any of these rules without prior
notice.
vii. No candidate including Industry sponsored candidates shall be admitted after 15 working
days of the commencement of semester.
viii. If seats reserved for ST are not filled up they shall be open to SC’s and vice versa. In the
event of candidates from SC & ST are not available these seats shall be allotted to the
candidates under open competition. If qualified candidates belonging to BC of particular
group are not available the left over seats will be adjusted for the candidates of next group.
If qualified candidates belonging to BC are not available to fill up the seats reserved for
them, the left over seats shall be treated as open competition.
ix. If physically challenged category candidates are not available those seats shall be filled as
per Government order

APPENDIX I
Reservation of seats in favour of Local/Non Local candidates
(Vide A.P. Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admissions) Order, 1974 as amended from time to time)
A (i) Admissions to 85% of the seats in each major field of study after excluding those reserved for the
Candidates from outside the State, shall be reserved in favour of the allocated among the local
candidates in relation to the local area in respect of the Andhra University and Nagarjuna
University: Osmania University and Kakatiya University; and Sri Venkateswara University
in the ratio of 42:36:22 respectively.
(ii) While determining the number of seats of be reserved in favour of the local candidates under
Sub- para(i) any fraction of a seat shall be counted as one provided that there shall be at least
one unreserved seat.
(iii) While allocating under Sub-para(i) the reserved seats among the local candidates in relation to
the different local areas, fraction of a seat shall be adjusted by counting the greatest fraction as
one and if necessary also the greater of the remaining fractions as another, and where the fraction
to be so counted cannot be selected by reason of the fractions being equal the selection shall be
by lot, provided that there shall be atleast one seat allocated for the local candidates in respect of
each local area.
(iv) If a local candidate in respect of a local area is not available to fill any seat reserved or allocated
in favour of a local candidate in respect of local area , such seat shall be filled as if it had not been
reserved.
Local Candidates
1. A candidates for admission to any course of study shall be regarded as a local candidate in relation
to a local area:
a) If he has studied in an educational institution or educational institutions in such local area for a
period of not less than four consecutive academic year ending with the academic year in which he
appeared, or as the case may be, first appeared in the relevant qualifying examination: OR
b) Where, during the whole or any part of the four consecutive academic years ending with the
academic year in which he appeared or, as the case may be, first appeared for the relevant
qualifying examination, he has not studied in any educational institution, if he has resided in that
local area for a period of not less than four years immediately preceding the date of
commencement of the relevant qualifying examination in which he appeared or, as the case may
be first appeared.
2. A candidate for admission to any course of study who is not regarded as a local candidate under
sub paragraph (i) in relation to any local area shall:
a) If he has studied in educational institutions in the State for a period of not less than seven
consecutive academic years ending with the academic year in which he appeared or, as the case
may be, first appeared for the relevant qualifying examination be regarded as a local candidate
in relation to;
i) Such local area where he has studied for the maximum period out of the said period of seven
years:
OR
ii) Where the periods of his study in two or more local areas are equal, such local area where he
has studied last in such equal periods: OR 8
b) If, during the whole or any part of the seven consecutive academic years ending with the
academic year in which he appeared or as the case may be, first appeared for the relevant
qualifying examination, he has not studied in the educational institutions in any local area, but has
resided in the State during the whole of the said period of seven years, be regarded as a local
candidate in relation to:
i) Such local area where he has studied for the maximum period out of the said period of seven
years:
OR
ii) Where the periods of his study in two or more local areas are equal, such local area where he
has resided last in such equal periods:
Explanations: For the purpose of this paragraph.
i) “Educational institution” means a University or any educational institution recognized by the
State Government or a University or other competent authority.
ii) “Relevant qualifying examination” in relation to admission to any course of study, means the
examination a pass in which is minimum educational qualification for admission to such
course of study:
iii) in reckoning the consecutive academic years during which a candidate has studied, any period
of interruption of his study by reason of his failure to pass any examination shall be
disregarded. Any period of his study in a State wide University or a State-wide Educational
Institution shall also be disregarded:
iv) The question whether any candidate for admission to any course of study has resided in any
local area shall be determined with reference to the places where the candidate actually
resided and not with reference to the residence of his parent or other guardian.
Local Area
The part of the State comprising the districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, West
Godavari, East Godavari, Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam shall be regarded as the local area in
respect of the Andhra University / Nagarajua University. The part of the State comprising the
districts of Adilabad, Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Karimnagar, Khammam, Mahboobnagar, Medak,
Nalgonda, Nizamabad and Warangal shall be regarded as the local area in respect of Osmania
University/Kakatiya University. The part of the State comprising the districts of Ananatpur,
Cuddapah, Kurnool, Chittoor and Nellore shall be regarded as the local area in respect of Sri
Venkateswara Veterinary University.
B. The following categories of candidates will be considered against the 15% of the available seats
left unreserved.
a) All candidates belonging to different local areas (AU, OU, SVU) indicated above.
b) Candidates who have resided in the State for a total period of ten years excluding periods
of study outside the State or either of whose parents have resided in the State for a total
period of ten years excluding period of employment outside the State:
c) Candidates who are children of parents who are in the employment of this State or
Central Government, Public Sector, Corporations, Local Bodies, Universities and similar
other Quasi Governments Institutions within the State.
d) Candidates who are spouses of those in the employment of the state or Central
Government, Public Sector, Corporations, Local Bodies, Universities and similar other
Quasi-Government Institutions with in the state.
e) Candidates who are employees in the State, Central Government undertakings, Public
Sector Corporations, Local Bodies, Universities and other similar Quasi-public
Institutions with in the state. 9
Note:
• State means Andhra Pradesh
• If the number of available seats does not exceed 3 in a major field the provisions relating to
reservation in favour of local candidates shall not apply.
• In the case of candidates who passed their B.V.Sc and degree from A.P. Agricultural
University/ANGRAU/SVVU (state wide University) only the period of study prior to joining
the University will be reckoned for determining the Local/non-local status of the candidate.

INTRODUCTION
1. The Andhra Veterinary College was started on 15th July, 1955 at Bapatla. Subsequently, the College
was shifted to Tirupati during 1957 under the control of Sri Venkateswara University. Consequent
to the formation of A.P. Agricultural University (presently named as Acharya N.G.Ranga
Agricultural University), this college came into its fold from July 10, 1964.
The College of Veterinary Science, Tirupati celebrated its Golden Jubilee year during July, 2004-
2005. The then Hon’ble Chief Minister, while inaugurating the Golden Jubilee Celebration on 30th
September, 2004 announced the formation of Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University at Tirupati
by bifurcating ANGRAU. This was done keeping in view of the improvement of livestock and
aquaculture farming for the overall development of the economy of the poor farming community of
the State. Accordingly the Andhra Pradesh State Government enacted Act.No.18 of 2005 which
came into force on june 21, 2005.
The College of Veterinary Science, Rajendranagar was started at Osmania University Campus in
the year 1946. Later on it was shifted to the present premises in A.N.G.R. Agricultural University in
the year 1968. From 10-7-1964 to 20-6-2005, it was under the control of Acharya N.G.Ranga
Agricultural University. After the formation of Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University, two
colleges came into SVVU control from 21-06-2005. The college celebrated its Diamond Jubilee
during 2005-2006.
The third Veterinary College in the state viz. NTR College of Veterinary Science was started at
Gannavaram in Krishna District during the Academic Year 2000-2001 and the fourth Veterinary
College was established at Proddatur in Kadapa District during the academic year 2008-09 and the
fifth Veterinary College was started at Korutla in Karimnagar District during the Academic Year
2008-09.
The College of Fishery Science was established in the year 1992 at Muthukur, Nellore District.
The Mandate of the University is to strengthen teaching, farmer oriented research and extension
activities in Veterinary and allied fields.
The university imparts instruction leading to the P.G. degree courses in the faculties of Veterinary
Science, Fishery Science and Dairy Science at its constituent colleges at Tirupati, Rajendranagar
(Hyderabad), Gannavaram and Muthukur of Nellore District.

3. (a) Candidates seeking admission into any of the following Master’s Degree courses must have passed
the relevant Bachelor’s Degree examination specified against each course from Sri Venkateswara
Veterinary University /ANGR Agricultural University or an institution accredited by ICAR/VCI.

In the above qualifying examination, the candidates must have secured minimum OGPA of
6.00/10.00 for general category (for SC/ST/PH-5.00/10.00) or 2.50/4.00 for general category
(2.00/4.00 in case of SC/ST/PH ) or 60% marks in traditional system (for SC/ST/PH-55%).
Only residents of AP are eligible for admission except in case of ICAR Quota.
Candidates with PG qualification are eligible for admission into second PG programme but
such candidates are not eligible for stipend. Candidates who are already prosecuting MVSc
are eligible to apply for PG admission in another discipline. But stipend paid with interest will
be recovered and his/her earlier admission shall stand cancelled irrespective of stage of
standing. However such candidates are eligible for stipend in fresh course.
(b) Age: The upper age limit is 40 years as on 01-07-2013
4 (a) Reservation for Local & Non-Local candidates: Reservation of seats for candidates belonging to
different local areas of the state shall be as per rules (Appendix-I)
(b) Reservation for S.C, S.T and B.C. candidates: 15%, 6% and 29% of the seats in each course of
study shall be reserved for the candidates belonging to SC, ST and BC respectively as per the existing
Government rules. 4
(c) Physically challenged candidates: 3% seats are reserved for physically challenged candidates as per
the Government norms.
(d) Reservation for women: 1/3rd of the total seats shall be reserved for women. If no lady candidate is
available it will be filled up by men. A combined roster will be maintained.
Note: As it is not possible to represent all social groups/local areas in a single discipline, in courses with
more than one major field, candidates belonging to different social groups shall be distributed in
different major fields of study available in such courses. (Reservation for Muslim candidates shall
be as per the norms of the AP State Govt.
5. Criteria for selection
(i) M.V.Sc/M.F.Sc: The selection of the candidates shall be based on the previous academic record
(B.V.Sc & A.H /B.F.Sc–30%, Intermediate 10+2-10%, 10
th Class-5% and achievements in extra
curricular activities 5% and performance in Entrance test 50% ).
The entrance test shall be comprehensive one, covering all relevant subjects prescribed for the
concerned Bachelor degree requirements of this University as per VCI MSVE-1993 Regulations.
The Entrance Examination paper contains only multiple choice questions. The candidates getting
40% or more marks in entrance test only are eligible for admission. However, in case of SC/ST/PH
candidates, there are no minimum qualifying marks and candidates are admitted to the extent of
seats reserved for them.SC/ST/PH candidates claiming seats under general category have to obtain
atleast 40% marks in the entrance test.
(ii) Weightage as indicated below will be given subject to a maximum of 5 marks on production of
certificates for achievement (Prizes/Medals) in NCC/NSS/Sports/Games/Cultural/Literary activities
at B.V.Sc & A.H/B.F.Sc:
International Level - 3marks, National Level - 2marks, Inter University Level-1mark
Note: In case of a tie, marks obtained in entrance test shall be considered for tie breaking. For
further tie breaking date of birth shall be considered and older candidate shall be preferred.
(iii) The candidates applying for admission should appear for Entrance Test at their own expenses.
(iv) Information about the qualifying candidates in entrance test will be displayed on University website
www.svvu.edu.in on 13-12-2013. Selected qualifying candidates shall have to produce necessary
Certificates, pay fees and register the courses at the concerned college (to which they are allotted)
by the prescribed date. Failure to do so entails forfeiture of claim for seat.
6. Enclosures to the applications: The candidates should submit copies of the following certificates
along with the application. Documents enclosed to the application shall not be returned. Hence
candidates are advised to enclose only copies of the following certificates.
a) A Demand Draft for `.600/for general category and `.300/- for SC/ST/PH category
candidates.
b) Two self addressed (with PIN code) envelopes affixing postage stamps of Rs.5/- on each.
c) Memoranda of marks (all years) obtained at the qualifying ( B.VSc & A.H/B.F.Sc level)
examination or transcript, 10+2 (Intermediate) and 10th class examinations.
d) Provisional/degree certificates of the qualifying examination.
e) Study Certificates from the Heads of recognized Institutions or Residence Certificate or
a certificate from the employer as the case may be (Vide Appendix). Those who have
continuously studied in recognized educational institutions should enclose study
certificates. Residence Certificates will not be accepted in such cases. Those who have a
break in the year of study for reasons other than failure or those who passed the
examination by private study should submit residence certificates in the prescribed
proforma enclosed in annexure. 5
f) Social Status Certificates issued by the competent authority in case of candidates
belonging to BC/SC/ST. The admissions given under this quota shall be provisional till the
genuineness of the social status claim of the candidate is certified by the respective
Departments of the Government.
g) Certificate towards achievements at B.V.Sc&AH/B.F.Sc level in NCC/
NSS/Sports/Games/Cultural/Literary activities at International (Representing
Nation)/National level (Representing State) Inter-University level, if applicable.
h) Date of birth certificate or S.S.C certificate where date of birth is mentioned.
i) Physical disability certificate, if any
j) Certificate showing the formula for conversion of OGPA/CGPA into marks in respect of
candidates who passed their examination from universities other than S.V.Veterinary
University and A.N.G.R Agricultural University.
7. The candidates who are selected for admission should submit the following certificates/
documents in original at the time of admission in addition to the originals of certificates
listed above.
i) Migration Certificate if the candidates passed qualifying examination from a University
other than SVVU.
ii) Transfer Certificate from the College/Institution where the candidate last studied.
8. If any of the required certificates are not enclosed, the Hall Ticket for entrance test will not be
issued. The candidates who fail to submit provisional/degree certificate of qualifying
examination before the date of entrance test will not be issued hall ticket and they not allowed
for the entrance test.
9. Those already employed shall send their applications through their employers so as to reach
the University before the last date prescribed. Applications of employed candidates which
are not submitted through employer shall not be considered and will not be called for
entrance test. Such candidates who hide the information on employment shall be
debarred from appearing the entrance examination in future.
10. How to apply:
The applications shall be downloaded from the University website, www.svvu.edu.in.
The downloaded and duly filled in downloaded application along with attested copies of
required certificates and a crossed Demand Draft for `.600/- towards Registration
(`300/- in case of SC/ST/PH candidates) drawn on any Nationalized bank favouring
Comptroller, SVVU, payable at Tirupati, should reach the Registrar, SVVU,
Administrative Office, Dr.Y.S.R. Bhavan, Tirupati – 517 502 on or before 23-11-2013 by
4.00 p.m. either in person or by Registered Post with Acknowledgement due. Application
received after this due date will summarily be rejected. Candidates who are in
employment should send their applications through proper channel. The University is not
responsible for any postal delay.
11. The hall tickets will be sent by post in advance to the candidates. However, those who do not
receive hall tickets may log on to university web site to ascertain, if their name is there in the
list of eligible candidates a duplicate hall ticket can be obtained from the Controller of
Examinations, SVVU, Tirupati on 8-12-2013, duly producing identity proof.

12. General
i. If a particular course is offered in more than one college, allotment of students to a
college shall be based on the local area to which the candidate belongs. PG students
should necessarily complete the PG programme in the College where they joined.
However, they can conduct research work elsewhere with the prior permission of the
University.
ii. The PG students should not be on the active rolls of employment of Government or
University or any other organization (private or public) while fulfilling the minimum
residential requirement of the course.
iii a. PG students should not register for any other degree/diploma programme concurrently on
regular or part-time basis either in this University or in any other University/Educational
Institution.
b. Those who were withdrawn from M.V.Sc/M.F.Sc courses in SVVU for not maintaining
minimum OGPA and again applying during subsequent years, should appear for the
entrance test and seek admission afresh.
c. Those who joined M.V.Sc/M.F.Sc courses in SVVU but could not complete the
requirement and applying again shall appear for entrance test. However, stipend if any
paid earlier shall be recovered in full.
iv. All admissions shall be deemed as provisional and subject to further scrutiny. The
admission shall be liable for cancellation without notice at any stage during the study of
the students if it is found that his/her admission is in any way repugnant to the rules/
regulations or invalid by reason of incorrect or false information furnished by the
applicants or their parents/guardians at the time of admission. Any cancellation of
admission shall not exclude penal action under the relevant criminal law.
v. The University reserves to itself the right to cancel or vary any of these rules without prior
notice.
vi. Based on the marks a merit list of qualified candidates is prepared and displayed on the
University Website.
vii. Counseling will be done for allotment of seats in subjects and college based on the merit
and the decision of university is final in this regard.
viii. The in-service candidates sponsored by Government or Industry are exempted from
appearing in entrance test.
ix. The ICAR seats if remain vacant shall be filled by University with fresh candidates
belonging to A.P. who appeared for entrance test.
x. There shall be counseling for the purpose of filling seats. Allotment to colleges is purely
on merit and first come first served basis.
xi. Only residents of A.P. are eligible for admission except in case of ICAR quota.
xii. No candidate including nominees sponsored by Government/Industry shall be admitted
after 15 working days of the commencement of semester.
xiii. If seats reserved for ST category are not filled up, they shall be open to SC category and
vice versa. In the event of candidates from SC & ST are not available these seats shall be
allotted to the candidates under open competition. If qualified candidates belonging to
BC of particular group are not available the left over seats will be adjusted for the
candidates of next group. If qualified candidates belonging to BC are not available to fill
up the seats reserved for them, the left over seats shall be allotted to open category. 7
xiv. Claims of candidates shall not be considered, if they are absent when called at the time of
counseling. But they can appear for subsequent counseling if any, in case of remaining
vacancies at the end of counseling only.
xv. If physically challenged category candidates are not available those seats shall be filled
as per Government orders.

APPENDIX - I
Reservation of seats in favour of Local/Non Local candidates
(In accordance with the A.P. Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admissions) Order,1974.)
A. (i) Admission to 85% of the seats in each major field of study after excluding those reserved
for the candidates from outside the State, shall be reserved in favour of and allocated
among the local candidates in relation to the local area in respect of the Andhra
University and Nagarjuna University; Osmaina University and Kakatiya University;
and Sri Venkateswara University in the ratio of 42:36:22 respectively.
(ii) While determining the number of seats to be reserved in favour of the local candidates
under sub para (i) any fraction of a seat shall be counted as one provided that there shall
be at least one unreserved seat.
(iii) While allocating under Sub-Para (i) the reserved seats among the local candidates in
relation the different local areas., fraction of seat shall be adjusted by counting the
greatest fraction as one and if necessary also the greater of the remaining fractions as
another, and where the fraction to be so counted cannot be selected by reason of the
fractions being equal the selection shall be by lot, provided that there shall be at least one
seat allocated for the local candidates in respect of each local area
(iv) If a local candidate in respect of a local area is not available to fill any seat reserved or
allocated in favour of a local candidate in respect of local area, such seat shall be filled as
if it had not been reserved.
Local Candidates
1. A candidate for admission to any course of study shall be regarded as a local candidate in relation
to a local area:
a) If he has studied in an educational institution or educational institutions in such local area for a
period of not less than four consecutive academic years ending with the academic year in which he
appeared or, first appeared in the relevant qualifying examination as the case may be. OR
b) Where, during the whole or any part of the four consecutive academic year ending with the
academic year in which he appeared or, as the case may be, first appeared for the relevant
qualifying examination, he has not studied in any educational institution, if he has resided in that
local area for a period of not less than four years immediately preceding the date of
commencement of the relevant qualifying examination in which he appeared or, first appeared as
the case may be.
2. A candidate for admission to any course of study who is not regarded as a local candidate under
sub paragraph(i) in relation to any local area shall:
a) If he has studied in educational institutions in the State for a period of not less than seven
consecutive academic years ending with the academic year in which he appeared or, as the case
may be, first appeared for the relevant qualifying examination be regarded as a local candidate in
relation to;
i) Such local area where he has studied for the maximum period out of the said period of seven
years;
OR
ii) Where the periods of his study in two or more local areas are equal, such local area where he has
studied last in such equal periods:
OR

b) If, during the whole or any part of the seven consecutive academic years ending with the academic
year in which he appeared or as the case may be, first appeared for the relevant
qualifying examination, he has not studied in the educational institutions in any local area, but has
resided in the state during the whole of the said period of seven years, be regarded as a local
candidate in relation to:
i) Such local area where he has resided for the maximum period out of the said period of seven
years;
OR
ii) Where the periods of his residence in two or more local areas are equal, such local area where
he has resided last in such equal periods.
Explanation: For the purpose of this paragraph.
i) “Educational institution” means a University or any educational institution recognized by
the state Government or a University or other competent authority:
ii) “Relevant qualifying examination” in relation to admission to any course of study, means
the examination a pass in which is minimum educational qualification for admission to
such course of study:
iii) In reckoning the consecutive academic years during which a candidate has studied, any
period of interruption of his study by reason of his failure to pass any examination shall
be disregarded. Any period of his study in a State-wide University or a State-wide
Educational Institution shall also be disregarded:
iv) The question whether any candidate for admission to any course of study has resided in
any local area shall be determined with reference to the places where the candidate
actually resided and not with reference to the residence of his parent or other guardian.
Local Area
The part of the State comprising the districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagraram, Vishakhapatnam, West
Godavari, East Godavari, Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam shall be regarded as the local area in respect of the
Andhra University / Nagarjuna University. The part of the State comprising the districts of Adilabad,
Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Karimnagar, Khammam, Mahaboobnagar, Medak, Nalgonda, Nizambad and
Warangal shall be regarded as the local area in respect of Osmania University/ Kakatiya University. The
part of the State comprising the districts of Anantapur, Kadapa, Kurnool, Chittoor and Nellore shall be
regarded as the local area in respect of Sri Venkateswara University/SKD University.
B. The following categories of candidates will be considered against the 15% of the available seats
left unreserved.
a) All candidates belonging to different local areas (AU, OU, and SVU) indicated above.
b) Candidates who have resided in the State for a total period of ten years excluding periods of
study outside the State or either of whose parents have resided in the State for ten years
excluding period of employment outside the State;

INTRODUCTION
1. The Andhra Veterinary College was started on 15th July, 1955 at Bapatla. Subsequently, the College
was shifted to Tirupati during 1957 under the control of Sri Venkateswara University. Consequent
to the formation of A.P. Agricultural University (presently named as Acharya N.G.Ranga
Agricultural University), this college came into its fold from 10-7-1964.
The College of Veterinary Science, Tirupati celebrated Golden Jubilee year from July, 2004-2005.
The then Hon’ble Chief Minister, while inaugurating the Golden Jubilee Celebrations on 30th
September, 2004 announced the formation of Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University at Tirupati
by bifurcating ANGRAU. This was done keeping in view of the improvement of livestock and
aquaculture farming for the overall development of the economy of the poor farming community of
the State. Accordingly the Andhra Pradesh State Government enacted Act.No.18 of 2005 which
came into force on 21-06-2005.
The College of Veterinary Science, Rajendranagar was started at Osmania University Campus in
the year 1946. Later on it was shifted to the present premises in A.N.G.R. Agricultural University in
the year 1968. From 10-7-1964 to 20-6-2005, it was under the control of Acharya N.G.Ranga
Agricultural University. After the formation of Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University, it came
into its control from 21-06-2005. The college celebrated its Diamond Jubilee during 2005-2006.
The third Veterinary College in the state viz. NTR College of Veterinary Science was started at
Gannavaram in Krishna District during the Academic Year 2000-2001 and the fourth Veterinary
College was established at Proddatur in Kadapa District during the academic year 2008-09 and the
fifth Veterinary College was started at Korutla in Karimnagar District during the Academic Year
2008-09.
The College of Fishery Science was established in the year 1992 at Muthukur, Nellore, District

2. ADMISSIONS
Number of seats
The details of seats available for fresh candidates for admission into Ph.D course in various major
fields of study are as shown in APPENDIX.
3 (A) Qualifications
Master of Science or an equivalent examination in Veterinary Science from SVVU/ANGRAU or
from an institution accredited by ICAR in the concerned field of specialization with at least 70%
marks in the aggregate under traditional system of examination or an OGPA of 2.7 or above in 4.00
point scale or OGPA of 6.50 or above in 10.00 point scale in grade point system. In the case of SC,
ST and PH candidates, 60% marks in the aggregate under traditional system in Master of
Veterinary Science under traditional system or OGPA of 2.5 out of 4.00 or 6.00 out of 10.00 under
Grade Point system is sufficient. The Basic Degree i.e. B.V.Sc & A.H. is essential.
The candidates awaiting final thesis viva voce result may apply. But they have to produce
provisional certificate on or before the date of entrance examination failing which they shall not be
allowed for entrance examination.
For admission into Ph.D in the following specializations in Veterinary Science, candidates who
posses M.V.Sc. in the major fields specified against each are also eligible.

3 (B) Age: The upper age limit is 50 years as on 01-07-2013 including ICAR senior Research fellowship
holders.
In-service/Fresh candidates belonging to other states shall be treated as fresh candidates and seats
for them shall be over and above the allotted seats. However they will not be eligible for stipend.

4. RESERVATIONS OF SEATS
15%, 6% and 29% of the seats are reserved for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes,
Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes respectively.
3% seats are reserved for physically disabled candidates as per the Govt. norms.
1/3rd of the total seats shall be reserved for women. If no lady candidate is available it will be filled
up by men.
Provided that the rules of reservation shall be so implemented that the first candidate in the merit
list of any major field of discipline shall not be denied a seat. Provided further that the above
provision shall not be applicable in making admission to a major field or discipline in which there is
only one seat.
In case of disciplines with more than 3 seats, 85% of seats after excluding those reserved for
candidates from other states, shall be reserved in favour of candidates belonging to Andhra
University, Osmania University and Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University, local areas in the
ration of 42:36:22 respectively. (Vide AP Educational institution (Regulation of Admissions) order,
1974 amended from time to time).
5. CRITERIA FOR SELECTION: The Weightage of marks will be as follows:
• Entrance Test : 50
• M.V.Sc level : 20
• B.V.Sc level : 10
• Interview performance : 20

The qualifying marks in the entrance test shall be 50%. In case of SC/ST/PH candidates, there are
no qualifying marks to the extent of seats reserved for them.
In case of a tie, the candidates who secured higher marks at M.V.Sc level shall be preferred. In case
of a further tie, the marks obtained at B.V.Sc level shall be considered. For further tie breaking, date
of birth shall be considered and older candidates shall be preferred.
6. SELECTION COMMITTEE
Selection of candidates for admission to Ph.D courses shall be made by a Selection Committee
constituted by the Vice-Chancellor. The candidates who are eligible for admission to the course
should appear for entrance test and interview before selection committee at Sri Venkateswara
Veterinary University, Tirupati at their own expenses.
7. CERTIFICATES/DOCUMENTS OTHER ENCLOSURES NEEDED
The candidates should submit copies of the following certificates along with the application:
Documents enclosed to the application shall not be returned. Hence candidates are advised to
enclose only copies of the certificates.
a. Memoranda of marks (of all years) obtained by the candidates at B.V.Sc and M.V.Sc level
Examinations or Transcripts of the above examinations.
b. Provisional/degree certificates of the above examinations.
c. Date of Birth Certificate (SSC Certificate)
d.Candidates belonging to Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes should
enclose, social Status Certificate issued by the competent authority. The admission given under
this quota shall be provisional till the genuineness of the Social Status claims of the candidates
are certified by the respective Departments of the Government.

e. Physical disability certificate, if any
f. Study certificates from Heads of recognized educational institutions from VI class onwards.
Those who appeared for any examination by private study should enclose residence certificate.
g. Certificate showing the formula for conversion of OGPA/CGPA into marks in respect of
candidates who passed their examination from Universities other than A.P. Agricultural
University/ANGRAU/SVVU.
h. Demand Draft for `.600 /- for general category (`.300 /- for SC/ST/PH students)
i. Two self addressed (with pin code) envelopes affixing postage stamps of `. 5/- on each
The originals of the above certificates should be produced at the time of interview and submitted at
the time of admission.
8. If any of the required certificates are not enclosed, the Hall Ticket for entrance test will not be
issued. The candidates who fail to submit provisional /degree certificate of qualifying examination
before the date of entrance test will not be allowed for the entrance test by not issuing hall ticket.
Those already employed shall send their applications through their employers so as to reach the
University before the last date prescribed. Applications of employed candidates which are not
submitted through employer shall not be considered and will not be called for entrance test and
interview. Such candidates who hide the information on employment shall be debarred from
appearing for entrance examination in future.
9. How to apply:
The applications shall be downloaded from www.svvu.edu.in. The downloaded and duly
filled in application along with attested copies of required certificates and a crossed Demand Draft
for `.600/- towards Registration (`.300 /- in case of SC/ST/PH candidates) drawn on any
Nationalized bank favouring Comptroller, SVVU, payable at Tirupati, should reach the Registrar,
SVVU, Administrative Office, Dr.Y.S.R.Bhavan, Tirupati – 517 502 on or before 23-11-2013 by
4.00 p.m. either in person or by Registered Post with Acknowledgement due. Application received
after this due date will summarily be rejected. Candidates who are in employment should send their
applications through proper channel. The University is not responsible for any postal delay.
Those already employed must send the applications through their employers so as to reach
on or before the last date prescribed. However, they may send advance copies of applications with
certificates to avoid delay in forwarding of applications by the employers.
10. The Hall Tickets will be sent by post in advance to the candidates. However, those who do not
receive hall ticket may log on to University web site to ascertain. If their name is there in the list of
eligible candidates a duplicate Hall ticket can be obtained from the Controller of Examinations,
SVVU, Tirupati on 8-12-2013, duly producing identity proof.
11. General
i. All admissions shall be deemed as provisional and subject to further scrutiny. They shall
be liable for cancellation at any stage during the study of the students if it is found that
admission is in anyway contrary to the rules or invalid by reason of incorrect or false
information furnished by applicants or their parents/guardians at the time of admission.
Any cancellation of admission shall not exclude penal action under the relevant criminal
law.

ii. The Ph.D students should not be on the active rolls of employment of Government or
University or any other organization –private or public – during the period of fulfilling the
minimum residential requirements for the course.
iii a. The candidates should not register for any other degree/diploma programme and continue
the studies concurrently on regular or part-time basis either in this University or in any
other University/Educational Institution.
b. Those who were withdrawn from Ph.D courses in SVVU for not maintaining minimum
OGPA and again applying during subsequent years, should appear for the entrance test and
seek admission afresh.
c. Those who joined Ph.D courses in SVVU but could not complete the requirement and
applying again shall appear for entrance test. However, stipend if any paid earlier shall be
recovered in full.
d. Those who completed Ph.D course in one discipline and applying for admission into a
different discipline shall not be considered for admission.
v When the same course is offered at more than one campus, the University reserves the
right to allot a student to any of the campuses irrespective of the region to which he/she
belongs.
vi The University reserves to itself the right to cancel or vary any of these rules without prior
notice.
vii. No candidate including Industry sponsored candidates shall be admitted after 15 working
days of the commencement of semester.
viii. If seats reserved for ST are not filled up they shall be open to SC’s and vice versa. In the
event of candidates from SC & ST are not available these seats shall be allotted to the
candidates under open competition. If qualified candidates belonging to BC of particular
group are not available the left over seats will be adjusted for the candidates of next group.
If qualified candidates belonging to BC are not available to fill up the seats reserved for
them, the left over seats shall be treated as open competition.
ix. If physically challenged category candidates are not available those seats shall be filled as
per Government order

APPENDIX I
Reservation of seats in favour of Local/Non Local candidates
(Vide A.P. Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admissions) Order, 1974 as amended from time to time)
A (i) Admissions to 85% of the seats in each major field of study after excluding those reserved for the
Candidates from outside the State, shall be reserved in favour of the allocated among the local
candidates in relation to the local area in respect of the Andhra University and Nagarjuna
University: Osmania University and Kakatiya University; and Sri Venkateswara University
in the ratio of 42:36:22 respectively.
(ii) While determining the number of seats of be reserved in favour of the local candidates under
Sub- para(i) any fraction of a seat shall be counted as one provided that there shall be at least
one unreserved seat.
(iii) While allocating under Sub-para(i) the reserved seats among the local candidates in relation to
the different local areas, fraction of a seat shall be adjusted by counting the greatest fraction as
one and if necessary also the greater of the remaining fractions as another, and where the fraction
to be so counted cannot be selected by reason of the fractions being equal the selection shall be
by lot, provided that there shall be atleast one seat allocated for the local candidates in respect of
each local area.
(iv) If a local candidate in respect of a local area is not available to fill any seat reserved or allocated
in favour of a local candidate in respect of local area , such seat shall be filled as if it had not been
reserved.
Local Candidates
1. A candidates for admission to any course of study shall be regarded as a local candidate in relation
to a local area:
a) If he has studied in an educational institution or educational institutions in such local area for a
period of not less than four consecutive academic year ending with the academic year in which he
appeared, or as the case may be, first appeared in the relevant qualifying examination: OR
b) Where, during the whole or any part of the four consecutive academic years ending with the
academic year in which he appeared or, as the case may be, first appeared for the relevant
qualifying examination, he has not studied in any educational institution, if he has resided in that
local area for a period of not less than four years immediately preceding the date of
commencement of the relevant qualifying examination in which he appeared or, as the case may
be first appeared.
2. A candidate for admission to any course of study who is not regarded as a local candidate under
sub paragraph (i) in relation to any local area shall:
a) If he has studied in educational institutions in the State for a period of not less than seven
consecutive academic years ending with the academic year in which he appeared or, as the case
may be, first appeared for the relevant qualifying examination be regarded as a local candidate
in relation to;
i) Such local area where he has studied for the maximum period out of the said period of seven
years:
OR
ii) Where the periods of his study in two or more local areas are equal, such local area where he
has studied last in such equal periods: OR 8
b) If, during the whole or any part of the seven consecutive academic years ending with the
academic year in which he appeared or as the case may be, first appeared for the relevant
qualifying examination, he has not studied in the educational institutions in any local area, but has
resided in the State during the whole of the said period of seven years, be regarded as a local
candidate in relation to:
i) Such local area where he has studied for the maximum period out of the said period of seven
years:
OR
ii) Where the periods of his study in two or more local areas are equal, such local area where he
has resided last in such equal periods:
Explanations: For the purpose of this paragraph.
i) “Educational institution” means a University or any educational institution recognized by the
State Government or a University or other competent authority.
ii) “Relevant qualifying examination” in relation to admission to any course of study, means the
examination a pass in which is minimum educational qualification for admission to such
course of study:
iii) in reckoning the consecutive academic years during which a candidate has studied, any period
of interruption of his study by reason of his failure to pass any examination shall be
disregarded. Any period of his study in a State wide University or a State-wide Educational
Institution shall also be disregarded:
iv) The question whether any candidate for admission to any course of study has resided in any
local area shall be determined with reference to the places where the candidate actually
resided and not with reference to the residence of his parent or other guardian.
Local Area
The part of the State comprising the districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, West
Godavari, East Godavari, Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam shall be regarded as the local area in
respect of the Andhra University / Nagarajua University. The part of the State comprising the
districts of Adilabad, Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Karimnagar, Khammam, Mahboobnagar, Medak,
Nalgonda, Nizamabad and Warangal shall be regarded as the local area in respect of Osmania
University/Kakatiya University. The part of the State comprising the districts of Ananatpur,
Cuddapah, Kurnool, Chittoor and Nellore shall be regarded as the local area in respect of Sri
Venkateswara Veterinary University.
B. The following categories of candidates will be considered against the 15% of the available seats
left unreserved.
a) All candidates belonging to different local areas (AU, OU, SVU) indicated above.
b) Candidates who have resided in the State for a total period of ten years excluding periods
of study outside the State or either of whose parents have resided in the State for a total
period of ten years excluding period of employment outside the State:
c) Candidates who are children of parents who are in the employment of this State or
Central Government, Public Sector, Corporations, Local Bodies, Universities and similar
other Quasi Governments Institutions within the State.
d) Candidates who are spouses of those in the employment of the state or Central
Government, Public Sector, Corporations, Local Bodies, Universities and similar other
Quasi-Government Institutions with in the state.
e) Candidates who are employees in the State, Central Government undertakings, Public
Sector Corporations, Local Bodies, Universities and other similar Quasi-public
Institutions with in the state. 9
Note:
• State means Andhra Pradesh
• If the number of available seats does not exceed 3 in a major field the provisions relating to
reservation in favour of local candidates shall not apply.
• In the case of candidates who passed their B.V.Sc and degree from A.P. Agricultural
University/ANGRAU/SVVU (state wide University) only the period of study prior to joining
the University will be reckoned for determining the Local/non-local status of the candidate.
