- The minimum time period required to complete the programme is three years after MBA from Xavier University. Broadly this is divided into two parts, the first year for the course work, and remaining two years for writing the doctoral thesis.
- The maximum duration allowed to complete the PhD is six years. Maximum possible extension to submit thesis after six years is 12 months.
Eligibility:
Admission Procedure for First Stage (MBA 2016-18):
- The minimum requirement for admission to the Programme is a three-year Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in any discipline with at least 55% marks in aggregate from a recognized university.
- Candidates who expect to complete the final part of their degree examinations by June 15, 2016, can also apply. Offers of admission to such candidates, if made, will be provisional and will be automatically cancelled in the event of their failing to complete all the requirements for obtaining the degree before June 15.
- Applicants are required to take any one of the following Admission Tests:
a) XAT to be conducted by XLRI, Jamshedpur, on 3 January, 2016, or b) CAT to be conducted by IIMs on 29 November 2015, or c) GMAT taken in 2014 or 2015 (minimum score for applying 550), or d) X-GMAT to be conducted Xavier University Bhubaneswar on 10 January 2016.
- Applicants opting for XAT/ CAT have to follow XAT/ CAT advertisements respectively and apply in time. Registering for XAT/ CAT/ GMAT is a prerequisite for applying to XIMB, if not opting for X-GMAT.
Admission Procedure for Second Stage (PhD):
- Those candidates, who secure a minimum cumulative score of 5.5 on an 8-point scale shall qualify to submit the research proposal, and shall be interviewed based on the research proposal submitted by them for admission into PhD.
- During their final year of MBA, students are encouraged to write UGC-NET test. Those who qualify for JRF shall be provided Junior Research Fellowship from the University Grant Commission. How to Apply:
- Applicants also have to fill up the online application form separately for XIMB programme at: www.ximb.ac.in.
- Upon successfully filling the online application form and paying the application fee, the applicant will be intimated by email about the acceptance of the form, followed by the admission bulletin 2016 by post/ courier.
- It may be noted that besides registering for XAT/ CAT/ GMAT, one has to apply (online) separately to XIM, Bhubaneswar.
Selection Process:
- The Institute will decide the section-wise as well as total cut-off marks which will be used for shortlisting the candidates to be called for Writing Ability Test (WAT), and Personal Interview.
- WAT & PI will be held in Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai.
- Candidates will have to meet their own travel expenses for appearing in the Interview session.
- The final selection will be made on the basis of the candidate's performance in the XAT/ CAT/ GMAT/ X-GMAT as well as in the Writing Ability Test, and Personal Interview (which factors in the past academic record and relevant work experience).
- The selected candidates will be informed by mail in the month of April 2016.
X-GMAT Exam Pattern:
- The on-line X-GMAT test will be of 120 minutes duration.
- The multiple choice question (MCQ) type test will have five sections namely Quantitative Aptitude, Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning, Verbal Ability, Emotional Quotient and General Awareness.
- There will be sectional time limits, with negative markings for wrong answers.
- The pattern and syllabus will be similar to the other tests like CAT and XAT.
- The time schedule and venue details will be intimated by email, by the last week of December.
