M.Sc. / M.Phil. Degree/ PG degree in any branch of Life Sciencesof a recognized University Or MBBS Degree of recognized University Or DM/M.Ch./MD/DNB or equivalent Degree Or Qualified in any of the three National Entrance Tests (NET) for Ph.D. –JRF under DBT /DST/ICMR / UGC JRF qualified candidates also have to submit application through online process. However they need not appear for the entrance test. They will be placed in the merit order based on their scores along with the candidates. Who have appeared for JIPMER Entrance Test and will be counseled for their option. The candidates can choose any one of the discipline available for the PhD Duration of the Course: 3 years for non-Medical Post Graduates / MBBS Graduates. 2 years for Medical Post-Graduates with MD/MS/DNB or M.Phil. Degree holders. 5 Years maximum at the discretion of the Research Committee.) Stipendiary Provisions: Students selected for PhD in any of the disciplines mentioned below will be paid as per JIPMER regulations a monthly stipend of 15,000/ for first year, 16,000/ for second year, 18,000/ for third year, of their studies respectively. Stipend of 11,000/ 12,000/-will be paid for extended period of their studies for fourth-year and fifth-year respectively. A contract has to be executed with JIPMER at the time of admission. In case of discontinuance of the course for any reason the candidate has to pay a penalty as per the terms of the contract executed for mid-stream departure Method of Selection The examination will be a Computer Based Test (CBT) / online. The paper is common for all the PhD courses. It consists of 100 multiple choice questions (MCQ) with sections on Research Methodology, Statistics, and Ethics of single best response type. The duration of the test is one and half hours, each answer with correct response will be given four marks, negative marks will be given. For every incorrect response marked as correct one mark will be deducted. Minimum of 50% marks in the Entrance Examination will be requiredfor the candidate to be eligible for counseling. The personal counseling carries no marks. Questions that are answered and “Marked for Review” will be considered as Answered. Pediatric Critical & Emergency Care: MD/DNBPediatrics from any University recognized as equivalent there to by the Medical Council of India Tropical Parasitology: MD/DNBMicrobiology from any University recognized as equivalent there to by the Medical Council of India. Cardiac & Neuro-Anaesthesiology: MD/DNB Anesthesiology from any University recognized as equivalent there to by the Medical Council of India. Critical Care (Anaesthesiology): MD/DNB Anaesthesiology/General Medicine from any University recognized as equivalent there to by the Medical Council of India. Method of Selection The Entrance Examination is online based test administration. It consists of 100 multiple choice questions (MCQ) in the concerned specialty of the level of MD standard. The duration of the test is one and half hours. Each answer with correct response will be given four marks, negative marks will be given. For every incorrect response marked as correct one mark will be deducted. DM (Clinical Pharmacology): Candidates should have passed MD/ DNB Degree in Pharmacology from any University recognized as equivalent there to by the Medical Council of India. DM (Medical Oncology):Candidate should have passed MD/ DNB Degree in Medicine / Pediatrics/ Radiotherapy from any university recognized as equivalent there to by the Medical Council of India Eligibility Criteria for M.Ch. Programmes Urology, Cardio-Thoracic and Vascular Surgery, Neuro-Surgery, Surgical Gastroenterology, Plastic Surgery, Pediatric Surgery and Surgical Oncology: Candidates should have passed MS/ DNB Degree in General Surgery from any University recognized as equivalent there to by the Medical Council of India Method of Selection DM (Doctor of Medicine): Computer Based Test (CBT) / online examination will consist of 100 MCQs in the concerned specialty and the duration of the examination will be 1½ hours.
