SAIL Assistant Manager(R&D)

POST : Assistant Manager(R&D)- Mechanical, Grade-E2

SAIL, a Maharatna Company, and a leading steel-making company in India with a turnover of Rs. 49350 crore  (FY 2012-13) is in the process of modernizing and expanding its production units, raw  material resources and other facilities to maintain its dominant position in the Indian steel market. In order to facilitate development and acquisition of appropriate technologies for sustained growth, SAIL R&D Master Plan implementation is underway. Research & Development Centre for Iron and Steel (RDCIS) at Ranchi is the Corporate R&D unit of SAIL and is the nodal agency for implementing the R&D Master Plan. It has Plant Centres at Bokaro, Bhilai, Burnpur, Durgapur, Rourkela & Bhadravati.
RDCIS seeks to induct bright professionals in executive cadre in various disciplines, as detailed below

  • Design of Mechanical Equipment for Steel Rolling Process
  • Process Modeling  & Simulation of Steel Rolling Process

Note: SC/ST/OBC candidates can apply against unreserved post provided they fulfill the eligibility criteria for unreserved category. Reservation for PWDs will be on horizontal basis.

4. EMOLUMENTS & OTHER BENEFITS : In addition to Basic Pay, the pay scale carries industrial DA as admissible. The selected candidates are also entitled to get other facilities such as Medical benefits for self and dependent family members, Contributory Provident Fund, Gratuity, Perquisites under cafeteria approach as per rules of the company. In addition, House Rent Allowance will be paid only where company accommodation is not available.

  1. PROBATION:
The selected candidates shall be placed under probation for one year before confirmation.

  1. 6.   SELECTION The mode of selection will be Written Test followed by Interview. Written test will be held at Kolkata and interview will be held at Ranchi. (Selection will be subject to candidates being found medically fit by the company’s medical Board and decision of the company’s medical board will be final in this regard. Outstation candidates called for interview for the said posts shall be reimbursed single to and fro rail fare to the extent of AC 3 Tier by shortest route on production of proof of journey performed, for posts of Asstt. Manager.

  1. MEDICAL STANDARDS : Candidates should be of sound physique, free from any physical defect. Medical standards stipulate minimum requirements of Weight 45 kg; Height 155 cm; Myopia and Hypermetropia, if any, not to exceed ± 4.00 in each eye and no squint or colour blindness. Suitable relaxation in height and weight will be given to female candidates. 

8. HOW TO APPLY 


Before registering their applications on the website the candidates should possess the following:
a)    Valid e-mail ID and Mobile No., which should remain valid for at least one year.
b)    Have latest passport size coloured photograph as well as photograph of own signature, both in digital format (.jpg or jpeg file only, each not more than 500 kb size) for uploading with the application.
c)    Journal No./Transaction No., as a proof of having submitted examination fee of Rs.500/- for General and OBC Candidates or Rs.100/- as processing fee for SC/ST/PWD/ Departmental candidates.
d)     Candidates are advised to read carefully instructions for online submission of application. The same will be available in the website itself.
e)    After applying online, the candidate is required to download the system generated Registration Slip with unique Registration Number.




9. MODE OF PAYMENT OF APPLICATION/PROCESSING FEE :

The application/ processing fee can be paid by using Debit Card/ Credit Card/ Internet Banking online through the payment gateway made available. Transaction charges for online payment, if any, will be borne by the candidates. After ensuring the correctness of the particulars of the application form, candidates are required to pay fees through the payment gateway integrated with the application portal, following the instructions available on the screen. No change/editing will be allowed thereafter. On successful completion of the transaction, Registration Slip with Unique Transaction Number and Application Number will be generated, which may be printed for record. If the online transaction is not successfully completed, candidates will be required to register again and make online payment. If the candidate does not receive the registration slip with unique transaction no. his/her online application will not be considered complete and he/she has to make payment again.  Failed Transaction amount will be automatically refunded to same A/c from which payment was originally made, within seven working days. 

While submitting the application online, candidates should note the following:
  • After applying online, candidate is required to download the system generated Registration Slipwith unique registration number and other essential details and retain a copy of the same.
  • Candidate must enter his/her name as it appears in the educational certificate of Matriculation or equivalent examination. In case of change of name at a later stage, necessary documentary proof to be submitted at the time of interview.
  • Candidates are not required to send any document for appearing in the written test. However, candidates shortlisted for interview would be required to furnish documents regarding proof of date of birth, qualification, experience, category, etc. at the time of interview as per intimation given to the shortlisted candidates.
  • While filling the online application, candidates must carefully follow all the steps. Incomplete application/ application without fee / application not fulfilling any eligibility criteria will be rejected summarily. No communication will be entertained from the applicants in this regard.
IMPORTANT :      
All correspondence with candidates shall be done through e-mail/website only. All information regarding examination schedule/admit card/ interview call letters etc. shall be provided through email/uploading on SAIL website. Responsibility of receiving, downloading and printing of admit card/interview call letter/ any other information shall be of the candidate. SAIL will not be responsible for any loss of email sent, due to invalid/wrong email ID provided by the candidate or for delay/non receipt of information if a candidate fails to access his/her mail/website in time.

10.  GENERAL CONDITIONS :
  • Only Indian Nationals are eligible to apply against this advertisement
  • Before applying the candidate should read all the instructions to ensure about his/her eligibility. There registration will be provisional. Only those candidates who fulfill the eligibility criteria will be issued admit card/interview call letter. Mere issue of admit card/interview call letter will not imply acceptance of candidature. If at any stage, it is detected that the candidate has given false information; his candidature will be rejected forthwith.
  • While applying the candidates should enter their full name as it appears in the matriculation / secondary certificate, clear & complete postal address, mobile numbers and e-mail address.
  • During the selection process, all correspondence will be made with the candidates through email. Date, place and time of Written Test, Interview will be intimated to the eligible candidate at a later date through email.
  • Category (General/SC/ST/OBC) once submitted in the application cannot be changed and no benefit of other category will be subsequently admissible.
  • Candidates working in Government Departments/ Public Sector Undertakings/ Autonomous bodies will be required to produce ‘No Objection Certificate’ at the time of interview.
    • Bringing influence at any stage of the selection process will disqualify the candidate from being considered for recruitment.
    • Only original registration slip (no photocopy) shall be accepted. In case of any overwriting or tampering of Registration slip and Admit Card the candidature of the candidate shall be rejected. Candidates should retain a photocopy of their Registration Slip for future reference.
  • Wherever CGPA/OGPA or letter grade in a degree is awarded, equivalent percentage of marks should be indicated in the online application form as per norms adopted by the University/Institute. The candidate will have to produce a copy of these norms with respect to his/her University/Institute at the time of Interview. Where no norms have been specified, the CGPA/OGPA will be presumed to have been provided on a 10 point scale
  • Departmental candidates, if any, will have to produce NOC from Head of Personnel of Plant/Unit that the candidates is working in.
  • Appointment of selected candidates will be subject to their being found medically fit by the Company’s Medical Board as per standard laid down under SAIL Medical & Health policy.
  • SAIL, RDCIS reserves the right to cancel/ restrict/ enlarge/ modify the above criteria, as per requirement, without issuing any further notice or assigning any reason thereof.
  • The decision of the SAIL, RDCIS is not liable for challenge and the same shall stand final and binding on each candidate.
  • Certificates of SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates should have been issued by the appropriate Authority (as per the prescribed proforma given on SAIL website - www.sail.co.in). For OBC, the certificate should have been issued on or after 01/04/2013 -the current financial year) OBC candidates who belong to “Creamy Layer” are not entitled to any relaxation. If the SC/ST/OBC certificate has been issued in a language other than English/Hindi, the candidates will be required to submit a self certified translated copy of the same either in English or Hindi.
  • Court of jurisdiction for any dispute will be at Ranchi.
