National Brain Research Centre (NBRC) will select candidates through two different channels for admissions to Ph.D. and Integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. programmes for the year 2013.
*Examination already held.
Candidates will be short-listed for a two-tier interview based on their performance in the JGEEBILS examination or their score in the GATE examination.
Programmes offered at NBRC
NBRC offers a Ph.D. programme in Neuroscience. Students from diverse backgrounds are considered for this programme. Fellowship for Junior Research Fellows is Rs.16000 per month and for Senior Research Fellows it is Rs.18000 per month.
NBRC is one of the first Institutes in the country to develop an Integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. programme in Neuroscience. These students are provided a fellowship of Rs.5000 per month for the first two years. From third year, they are paid fellowships on par with the Ph.D. students. After completion of the programme, the students will be awarded both M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees.

Master's degree or equivalent in any branch of Science such as Life Sciences/Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics/ Statistics/Computer applications/Pharmacy/Veterinary Science/Psychology from a recognized Institute/University or A minimum of four-year bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering/Technology/Medicine from a recognized Institute/University.
Candidates appearing for final year of the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply.

6. How will the percentage be calculated for the candidates appearing in the final year of their qualifying degree?
Candidates who are appearing for the final year of their qualifying degree are eligible to apply. If short-listed their selection will be provisional and subject to having an aggregate percentage of 55% (for SC/ST/PH 50%) or more all through their academic career starting from 10th class.
7. I have 50% marks in X / XII standard and 60% in B.Sc. and I belong to SC category? Should I have 55% or more marks for applying?
Concessions / Reservation to SC / ST and PH candidates will be as per Government of India rules / policy. Candidates belonging to SC / ST /PH categories are required to submit an attested copy of the certificate in support of their claim for reservation along with the Demand Draft they are sending to NBRC, failing which their application may not be considered.
5% relaxation in percentage is given to SC/ST/PH candidates.

8. I have 54.8% marks in X / XII standard. Whether my percentage can be rounded off making me eligible?
No rounding off is permissible. Your percentage up to two decimal points should be mentioned. Candidates with a continuous track record of atleast 55% marks throughout the academic career starting from 10th class only will be considered. 5% relaxation in percentage is given only to SC/ST/PH candidates.
9. How do I convert GPA to percentage?
Candidates may convert their GPA to percentage as per the conversion factor of their institute / university and they need to produce a supporting document regarding that conversion factor.
