Commission in the INDIAN ARMY subject to fulfilment of specified

Registration for online application will open on 07 Feb 2013 and will
be closed on 01 Mar 2013.
Widows of Defence personnnel are to apply offline & the last
date of receipt of application in Recruiting Dte in respect of them is
14 Mar 2013.

SHORT SERVICE COMMISSION
You also have the option of joining the Army and serving as a Commissioned Officer for 10 years and is extendable up to 14 years. At the end of this period you have two options. Either elect for a Permanent Commission or opt out.
Those not selected for Permanent Commission have the option of a 4 years extension. They can resign at any time during this period.
A Short Service Commission empowers you with analytical thinking, planning skills, administrative and organizational abilities. Qualities which will make you an invaluable asset for any organization that you join after the Army and there are opportunities to side step to an alternate career for which Army will also help you.
Officers Training Academy, Chennai
Once selected for Short Service Commission, you go to the Officers Training Academy at Chennai. The selection process is a written exam followed by the SSB interview and medicals. For Technical (Engineering) graduates and law graduates it is direct SSB interview and medicals. If you have done NCC Senior Division (Army) and obtained 'C' certificate with minimum 'B' grade, you can apply through your NCC Branch HQ/Zonal HQ to Recruiting Directorate for direct SSB interview. SSB qualified candidates undergo a medical examination. The duration of training is 49 weeks. OTA training provides you with opportunities to broaden your perspective and widen your horizon. Short Service Commission For Women (Officers)
In 1992, an important landmark in the history of Indian Army was the induction of women into the officer cadre, and the onerous task of training them was undertaken by the Officers Training Academy.
Revised Terms and Conditions of Service of SSCOs(Women both
Technical and Non-Technical)
Prominent features of the revised policy are :-
(a) Extension of Tenure
(i) Tenure of Short Service Commission. Short Service Commission (SSC), in the Regular Army will be granted for 14 years i.e. for an initial period of 10 years, extendable by 4 years.
(ii) Duration of Training. 49 weeks.
(b) Substantive Promotion :- SSCOs will be eligible for substantive promotion.
(i) To the rank of Capt - on completion of 2 years reckonable commissioned service.
(ii) To the rank of Maj - on completion of 6 years reckonable commissioned service.
(iii) To the rank of Lt Col - on completion of 13 years reckonable commissioned service.
How to Apply
General
1. In case of UPSC Entries (NDA, IMA (DE) and OTA [SSC (Non Tech, men and women)], wait for the UPSC Advertisement in Employment News/ Rozgar Samachar/ UPSC website. Thereafter, apply to UPSC by filling UPSC application form ovailable in post offices or apply online to UPSC, as per instructions given by UPSC in the advertisement.
2. In case of other entries, details are as under:-
(a) NCC Entry (Men and Women). After advertisement is issued in Dec or Jun, download common application form from this website and submit form duly filled with requisite documents to respective NCC units/ Group HQ.
War Widows and Wards of Battle Casualties. After downloading common application form from this website, post the form duly filled with attested photocopies of documents to Rtg Dte (Rtg-6), as per the address given in the advertisement.
(b) 10+2 TES, TGC, SSC (Tech, men and women). Apply online through this website, after the advertisement is issued, within the period stipulated in the advertisement and mail the printed online application to ADG Rtg (Rtg-6), West Block 3, R K Puram, New Delhi -110066, within the time period stipulated in the advertisement.
(c) University Entry Scheme(Pre Final Year Students Only). Advertisement will be published in the month of Jun/Jul every year. Apply to concerned Command Headquarters as per the advertisement published.Download the common application form for UES from DOWNLOAD Menu on the main page of this website and apply as per advertisement.
3. Points To Note for Non-UPSC Entries. 10th Class Certificate, 12th Class Certificate and latest College
education documents (final marksheet or previous semester marksheets or degree cert or provisional degree cert) are required to be attached as attested photocopies with most applications as given in the advertisement. The documents are to be attested by a gazetted officer. The photo affixed on the application is to be attested by gazetted Officer
Instructions for Online Applications for all Entries
1. Please fill all details mentioned in the online application form , failing which the application is liable to be rejected.
2. After applying online candidates are requested to take a print out of online application, paste his/her photograph in the space provided duly attested by gazetted officer. Sign the application in blue ink at the space provided and sent it alongwith attested copies of educational/required certificates to Recruiting Directorate by post on the address mentioned in the advertisement published for the entry “ADG Rtg (Rtg-6), TGC/SSC(T)/SSCW(T)/10+2 TES Section(As relevant to the entry), West Block 3, R K Puram, New Delhi-110066. Please write “Online Application, the name of your selected course and the roll No allotted to you” in bold letters, on top of the envelope, when sending the documents by post. For e.g. ONLINE APPLICATION, COURSE Ser TGC-114, ROLL No 500091.applications should be forwarded at the following address:-

3. Candidates are also required to carry one more ink signed copy of the application without fail alongwith the photograph(attested by Gazetted Officer) pasted on it, required original educational certificates and with a valid proof of identity to the Selection Centre when called for the interview. Candidature of a candidate will be cancelled:-
(a) If candidate does not send the said documents by post to Recruiting Directorate.
(b) Does not carry the copy of online application & said documents to the Selection Centre for interview.
(c) Applying second time on line or by post will also lead to cancellation of candidate.
(d) Any incorrect details filled in online applications will lead to cancellation of candidature and suitable action will be taken against the candidate.
4. It may be noted that depending upon the total number of applications received by this office for 10+2 TES Course/Technical Graduate Course(TGC) /Short Service Commission Technical(SSC Tech) Men &Short Service Commission Technical(SSC Tech) Women, Recruiting Directorate reserves the right to shortlist and to fix cut off percentage of PCM marks for SSB interview. No representation will be entertained in this aspect.
5. Call up for SSB tests will be sent to you by SMS/post and dates will also be hosted on the website. Original and attested copies certificates will be brought to the Selection Centers as per the call up instructions.

7. For Candidates of TGC/SSC(T)/SSCW(T) Only For candidates in final year, a copy of the certificate from the Principal of the College/University on Official College Stationery as under is required to be enclosed:-
“It is certified that ______________________ s/o/d/o ______________ is a bonafide student of our college presently in the final year of _________________ (Degree programme name) with __________________ (Branch/subjects of study) and the final exams are likely to be held in __________________ (month and year). His date of birth as per college records is _____________.
The College is affiliated to _______________ (University) which is a recognized institution under the UGC Act for the designated programmes”.
8. TGC candidates applying for Army Education Corps & Military farms are not permitted to apply online. They are advised to download “ Common Application Form” given in downloads on the Website and forward it duly filled by post to the address mentioned in the advertisement. Military Farm candidates to forward the application directly to RVC as per the address given in the advertisement published.
