Adminissions Eligibility:
Criterion 1 - Age Limit:
  • Upper age limit for candidates is 30 years of age (relaxable by three years for reserved category) on or before July 1, 2016.
  • General Category applicants: Candidates born on or before July 1, 1986 are not eligible.
  • Reserved Category applicants (OBC-NCL, SC, ST & PH): Candidates born on or before July 1, 1983 are not eligible

Criterion 2 - Educational Qualification:
  • Bachelors degree in any discipline under the 10+2+4 (or more) system, from any university or institute recognized (by law) in India.
  • Bachelors degree in any discipline under the 10+2+3 system, from any university or institute recognized (by law) in India, with a one year experience or further academic qualifications.
  • Diploma in Design under the 10+2+4 system, from any university or institute recognized (by law) in India.

  • Upload Photograph & Signature
  • Pay application fee & Print
  • Application Fees:
    • General Category: Rs.1500/-
    • OBC-NCL / SC / ST / PwD: Rs.750/-
    • Overseas (supernumerary): US $ 30
  • Then, to complete the application process, you must send the demand draft and a printout of your application form in a single envelope, so as to reach the following address

Selection Process:
  • Admission is on the basis of NID’s method of selection, which extends beyond the students previous academic qualifications.
  • The process of Admission to NID for M.Des. programmes consists of three stages:
    • Stage 1: Design Aptitude Test (DAT)
    • Stage 2: Studio Test
    • Stage 3: Personal Interview
  • Design Aptitude Test (DAT) shall be conducted at various test centres in cities across India. Candidates should note that, mere appearance in DAT 2016 or being in the rank list neither guarantees nor provides any automatic entitlement to admission.
  • Based on the scores obtained in DAT (stage 1), shortlisted candidates for M.Des. will have to appear for the stage 2 and 3 exams of the admissions process, at Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Gandhinagar campuses.

Important Dates:
Deadline for receipt of online applications: 27th November, 2015
Design Aptitude Test (DAT): 10th January, 2016
