Eligibility:
- At least 55% aggregate marks without rounding off (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for General/ OBC (NCL) Category candidates.
- At least 50% aggregate marks without rounding off (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for SC/ ST and PwD category candidates in the qualifying degree.
- For candidates with grades in letter/ CGPA (instead of percentage of marks) the equivalence in percentage of marks will be decided by the admitting institute(s).
- Note: Proof of having passed the qualifying degree with required eligibility, as specified by the admitting institute, should be submitted by 30th September, 2016. Reservation policy is as per Government of India norms.
How to Apply:
- A candidate can register and apply online only for JAM 2016 at http://jam.iitm.ac.in/jam2016
- The application fee can be paid either online or through e-challan (additional transaction charges may apply). In case, a candidate chooses to pay through e-challan, then the payment should be made in cash at any branch of the bank mentioned in the e-challan. The application fee is non refundable.

Written Test Pattern:
- JAM 2016 will have seven Test Papers each of three hours duration. For all the papers, JAM 2016 examination will be conducted in online mode only.
- A candidate can appear in either one Test Paper or two Test Papers by paying an additional fee for the second test paper.
- Candidates opting to appear in two Test Papers must check from the Test Schedule that these Test Papers are not scheduled in the same session.
- All the seven Test Papers of JAM 2016 will be of fully objective type, with three different patterns of questions, namely (i) multiple choice questions (MCQ), (ii) multiple select questions (MSQ), and (iii) numerical answer type (NAT) questions.
Selection Process:
- Admission to the above mentioned academic programmes in IISc Bangalore and IITs for the academic session 2016-17 will be made on the basis of all India merit list of JAM 2016.
- Candidates who qualify in any test paper of JAM 2016 shall be eligible to apply for admission to all the academic programmes corresponding to that test paper, provided they also satisfy the minimum educational qualifications and the eligibility requirements, as specified by the Institute(s) in which the admission is sought.
- After the declaration of JAM 2016 results, qualified candidates shall be required to apply to the Organizing Institute (IIT Madras) specifying their preferences for the programmes for which the admission is sought.
- Candidates should note that being in the merit list of any test paper neither guarantees nor provides any automatic entitlement for admission. Further details regarding admissions, prescribed fees, etc. will be updated on the JAM 2016website.
