Ph.D. in Population Studies @IIPS

Applications are invited for admission to the full-time Ph.D. programme of the Institute with Government of India fellowship for the academic session 2014-2015. Applications are also invited from eligible UGC-JRF or any population fellowship holders for being considered for full-time admission. Scholarship Details No. of GOI Fellowships: 23 (Seats likely to increase). In addition, UGC-JRF and other fellowship holders will also be considered for admission as per availability of seats. Each eligible candidate with NET qualification for lecturership only either in Population Studies or its interdisciplinary subjects will be awarded the Government of India fellowship @ Rs. 16,000/- per month for first and second years and Rs. 18,000/- per month for the third year respectively. Each fellowship carries a contingency grant of Rs. 10,000/- for the first two years and Rs. 20,500/- for the third year. However, the candidates without NET qualification for lecturership shall be awarded the Government of India fellowship @ Rs.12, 000/- p.m. for first and second years and Rs. 14,000/- p.m. for third year respectively with an annual contingency grant of Rs. 10,000/-. Eligibility Criteria Candidates having M.Phil/Master's degree in Population Studies of a recognised university with at least 55% of marks. The upper age limit is 30 years for general candidates and 35 years for SC/ST/OBC/PH & Women candidates as on 30.6.2014. Marks are relaxable for candidates belonging to reserved categories as per GOI rules. Candidates awaiting results of qualifying examination latest by 30th September 2014 can also apply for consideration. How to Apply The prescribed application form can either be obtained from the Assistant Registrar (Academic), International Institute for Population Sciences, Deonar, Mumbai-400 088 in person or by sending a self addressed Rs.50/- stamped envelope (25cm x 12cm). The completed application form along with necessary enclosures and a non-refundable processing fee of Rs.500/- (exempted for SC/ST and PH candidates) by Demand Draft, drawn from any nationalised Bank in favour of the Director, IIPS, Mumbai should reach the Assistant Registrar (Academic) on or before 2nd June, 2014. All candidates MUST attach two reference letters from two referees other than relatives who are in a position to give information about them and their work.
