 All the fancy degrees and internships prove worthless when it comes to the question of work experience. Those who manage to get a job through this entire hassle end up with a terrible pay. On one hand we have industries looking for qualified candidates and qualified individuals without work experience on the other. So the Government has finally stepped in solve the issue by bridging the gap between freshmen and industries.New schemeGovernment has put in place the Apprentices act which makes it mandatory for all the business in any trade or occupation to engage Graduate, Technician and Technician (vocational) as per the number of seats allocated by the Regional Boards of Apprenticeship training. Scheme is put into place by the Ministry of Human resources, Department of Higher Education and Government of India together through four Regional Boards of Apprenticeship. The Government will be reimbursing 50% of the minimum prescribed stipend to the employers under this programme. What is it for?The programmes have placed it focus mainly on skill development with an “on the job” experience. The programme aims to impart both hard skills and soft skills to the candidates within the training period. The programme is expected to contribute to the process of making the freshmen employable. Programme detailsThe duration of the programme will be for one year. A minimum of stipend will be made available to the candidates under this scheme; however it may vary depending to the industries. Those who complete one year with satisfactory results will also receive a certification of Proficiency. BenefitsBest part is the one year under this scheme will be counted as work experience, not an internship or apprenticeship. The Staff Selection Commission will conduct an open examination for recruitment to the posts of Constable (GD) in BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, NIA and SSF and Rifleman in Assam Rifles as per the Recruitment Scheme formulated by the Ministry of Home Affairs and as per the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the Staff Selection Commission.

Qualifications (as on 01.08.2015): Matriculation or Xth class pass from a recognized board/ university.

Pay Scale: Pay Band – I, Rs. 5200 - 20200 + Grade Pay Rs. 2000.
Recruitment process: The recruitment process will consist of Physical Standards Test, Physical Efficiency Test, Written Examination and Medical Examination.
Written Examination: The Commission will conduct written examination of candidates qualified in PST/ PET in both online and off-line mode. The candidates will have to opt for On-line or Off-line mode of Examination in the application form. Though the Commission will endeavour to accommodate the candidates in centres opted by him/ her, it may combine the centres or divert the candidates to other centres, depending on administrative convenience. The written examination will consist of one objective type paper containing 100 questions carrying 100 marks.
Mode of Payment: The candidates submitting their applications on-line should pay the requisite fee only through State Bank of India either in the form of challan or online payment through SBI Challan/ Net Banking/ Credit and Debit cards.

Selection ProcedureA committee nominated by the Director, CCMB, selects the trainees. One of the major criteria used in selection is that the selected candidates should represent the Nation-wide coverage of different Indian states (based on the location of their academic institutions, but independent of their birthplace, sex, cast or religion). ‘Statement of purpose’ and the ‘Recommendation/reference Letter’ are other important considerations in the selection of candidates along with the academic record.
