27th All India Essay Contest on Nuclear Science & Technology, 2015

Scholarships Contest Details:
  • Topics:
    • Demand for safe, clean, reliable energy in India – Role of Nuclear power
    • Radioisotopes and Radiation Technologies for the welfare of mankind – A saga of 120 years.
    • Power beams and their application in Energy, Environment and Health care.
  • Participants should write an essay with an introductory (should not exceed 350 words), followed by detailed essay (should not exceed 1500 words) in any one of the topics and a conclusion (should not exceed 150 words). (Total essay with 2000 words)
  • Prizes:
    • First Prize (3 No's): Rs. 21,000/-
    • Second Prize (3 No's): Rs. 14,000/-
    • Third Prize (3 No's): Rs. 7,000/-
    • Consolation Prize: Rs. 3,000/- (To all those contestants who make oral presentation)
  • Participants selected for oral presentation are provided with To and fro AC 3 – Tier rail fare by shortest route and accommodation in the Guest House of BARC at Anushaktinagar, Mumbai.

Eligibility:
  • All the students who are pursuing regular full time graduation in any discipline from an Indian University or an institute deemed to be a university are eligible for applying in this contest.

Selection Process:
  • After initial screening, a maximum of 36 essays are selected and their authors are invited for an oral presentation if the essay held in Mumbai in the last week of October 2015.
  • The final selection will be made on the basis of both – performance in oral presentation and quality of the written essay.

How to Apply:
  • Participants can submit their essay directly along with a bonafide studentship certificate from the principal of his/her college/institute to:
    Assistant Administrative Officer,

    Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India
    Anushakti Bhavan, CSM Marg,
    Mumbai - 400 001.
  • The Participants shall write his/her name, College/ Institute & residential address with Contact no & Email id of the students as well as the institute on a separate detachable sheet to facilitate communicating the results of the written Essay. Name or Address should not be written elsewhere on the text of the essay.

Chancellor`s International Scholarship, 2016 @ University of Warwick, UK

Scholarships Scholarship Details:
  • Number of Scholarships: 25
  • Scholarship includes:
    • full payment of overseas tuition fees (worth up to £18,800 at 15/16 rates, this figure is likely to increase with inflation for 2016/17)
    • a maintenance stipend in line with RCUK rates (provisional £14,254* for full time award holders in 2016/17)
    • Length of funding: 3.5 years unless you are already in your first year of study when you apply then the length of funding will be reduced accordingly.

Eligibility:
Applicants must possess:
  • also be applying for a PhD at the University of Warwick to begin in October 2016.
  • Students currently enrolled on a PhD or M. Phil./PhD at the University of Warwick may apply in their first year of registration only.
  • expect to be 'overseas' students for fees purposes, but there is no other nationality criteria.
  • may be from any discipline at Warwick.
