CWIT Short Research and Professional Visits Grants in UK, 2016

Scholarship Details:
  • Number of Scholarships: 10-15
  • Duration of the Scholarship: 3 Weeks
  • Each scholarship is worth £1,400.

Eligibility:
Applicants must:

  • be Indian citizens living in India
  • have good knowledge of English
  • have completed their studies and have 4 or more years of research or experience in their specialization, or be in the final stages of their doctorate
  • state clearly and exactly what they want to do in the UK and which archival material they wish to consult
  • state how they plan to use the experience on their return to India.
  • not have received a CWIT grant within the previous 5 years.

Age Limit:
  • Applicants must have age between 25 to 45 years.

    Qualifications: Graduate in Electrical/ Civil Engineering with experience as a Project Manager in EPC projects of EHV GIS sub-stations up to 400 kV/ 380 kV, overhead transmission lines / EHV cable-laying. Should possess skills of handling multiple sites, labour force, construction interface, productivity monitoring, cost control & financial management, including Quality, HSE & Risk management PGMP / PMP certification, an advantage.
  2. Supply Chain Manager / Procurement Engineer
    Qualifications: Graduate in Electrical Engineering with experience in Materials Management. Should have technical knowledge on various electrical equipment. Exposure to procuring equipment for EHV / I-1V Electrical Substation / Transmission Line (OHL)/ Cabling / MEP equipment and construction materials. Should possess skills in negotiation, vendor management and knowledge about commodity and currency hedging. Knowledge of international trade practices, INCO terms, contract documentation and administration is essential.

    Qualifications: Graduates/ Diploma in Electrical/ Civil Engineering with experience in ENV/ HV substation/ overhead transmission lines / cabling projects.   4. EHS - Advisor/ Engineer
    Qualifications: Graduate / Diploma Engineer with experience in ENS management system in substation / transmission line / underground cabling projects. Should have NEBOSH certification and the ability to conduct HSE audits, incident investigation and identify underlying causes, be conversant with HSE documents and emergency procedures.
    Experience / approval of Aramco, Saudi Electricity & SABIC / KAHRAMAA / MEW projects desirable.
  5. QA/QC - Manager/ Engineer
    Qualifications: Graduate / Diploma in Electrical / Civil / Instrumentation Engineering with experience in QA /QC function in construction of electrical substation / OHL / cabling projects. Should be a Lead Auditor CIRCA-certified) with minimum 2 years' experience in establishment, operation & maintenance of a QMS in accordance with ISO / TR 29001 / ISO 9001 or equivalent. Should be capable of developing quality system, plans, work procedures and inspection plan. Oil & gas experience in Gulf, an advantage. Experience / approval of Aramco, Saudi Electricity & SABIC / KAHRAMAA / MEW projects, desirable.
  6. Planning Manager/ Engineer/ Scheduler
    Qualifications: Graduate in Electrical / Electronics & Communication / Instrumentation Engineering with experience as Planning Manager / Engineer in Sub-station / Transmission Line / Cabling Projects. Should be conversant with Project Management software like Primavera P6, MS Projects, etc. SMP certification, an advantage.
  7. Testing & Commissioning Engineer/ Manager
    Qualifications: Graduate / Diploma in Electrical Engineering with experience in testing & commissioning of HV / EHV GIS, power transformers, protective relays, cables, and capacitor banks. Should be proficient with various protection schemes and practices that are applicable in 11kV to 380kV electrical systems.
  8. Accounts & Administration Manager/ Officer
    Qualifications: Academic graduate with experience in handling Site Accounts / Administration matters in construction projects. Should be conversant in handling all accounts related functions, cash flows, staff / labour welfare / general administration, maintaining records pertaining to labour as per statutory requirements and labour camp management.
    Experience: Project Managers: 15 to 20 years. Functional Managers: 10 to 15 years. Engineers / Officers: 5 to 10 years.
