Fellowship in Social Sciences & Humanities @ Jadavpur University, Kolkata

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for being considered for the award of SYLFF-JU Fellowship (Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund, endowment of Nippon Foundation). Fellowship is intended to financially assist young students of social science and humanities with leadership potential.

Scholarship Details
  • Maximum of four fellowships - two for MA, one for M.Phil. and one for PhD students will be awarded.
  • For each one year fellowship of US $ 1600 for MA, applicants must be enrolled with the MA first year and one year fellowship of US $ 2440 for M.Phil., applicants must be enrolled with M.Phil. first year in Jadavpur University under the Faculty of Arts/ Faculty Interdisciplinary studies, Law and Management.
  • For three year fellowship (all inclusive of US $ 4750+5250+5750) for Ph D degree, applicants must have completed a masters degree from any faculty or interdisciplinary school of any university and must be willing to take registration under the Faculty of Arts/Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, Law and Management, Jadavpur university in subjects within the parameters of social science and humanities.
  • Fellowships will be paid monthly in Indian rupee value determined by the exchange rate prevailing as on date of payment.

Masters Fellowships in Public Health and Tropical Medicine @ Wellcome Trust

This scheme strengthens scientific research capacity in low- and middle-income countries, by providing support for junior researchers to gain research experience and high-quality research training at Master's degree level. Research should be aimed at understanding and improving public health and tropical medicine of local, national and global relevance. Public health and tropical medicine cover a wide range of health problems, including communicable and non-communicable diseases.

Scholarship Details
  • Stipends are costed based on the Trust’s Masters students scales, determined by the location of the course (Inside London* - £17 000 per year; UK Outside London - £15 000 per year; Outside the UK – applicants are advised to check with the prospective training institution regarding living costs; Other – for individual cases where additional funding may be required, e.g. dependants accompanying the awardee, please contact the Trust for advice).
  • Inside London covers institutions within Greater London, for example London Universities.
  • Travel costs (e.g. outward and return airfares)
  • Support for approved tuition fees. Master’s course fees will be paid according to the rate charged by the training institution.
Eligibility Details
A national or legal resident of a low- and middle-income country, and hold a first degree in subject relevant to tropical medicine or public health (clinical or non-clinical)
At an early stage in your career, with limited research experience, but have a demonstrated interest in or aptitude for research

2014 Asian Women in Business Scholarship

The Asian Women in Business Scholarship encourages and promotes exceptional Asian female students who have demonstrated scholarship, leadership, community service and/ or entrepreneurship. The AWIB Scholarship Fund awards scholarships to students who have the attributes to be our next generation of leaders.

Scholarship Details
  • Each winner will receive $2,500
  • Applicant can be considered for an additional $2,500 (a total of $5,000) if qualified as lower middle income
  • Awards are expected to be applied towards tuition and other education-related expenses
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates for the scholarship must be female of Asian (includes those who can trace their ancestry from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam) or Pacific Islander ancestry and a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. The definition of Asian follows that provided by the U.S. Census.
