PG DIploma in Thermal Power plant engineering


ABOUT THE COURSE
This is a one year course consisting of 2 semesters covering formal training at institutes and on-job training at thermal plants. This course is conducted at Regional Institutes of NPTI located at Badarpur (New Delhi), Nangal (Punjab), Neyveli(Tamilnadu),Durgapur(WB),Guwahati (Assam) and Nagpur(Maharashtra), whereas the Simulator training forming an integral part of the course shall be conducted at Badarpur / Faridabad / Nagpur Institutes. The modules of the course are listed in the detailed curriculum. The sequence of these modules is not rigid and may be modified suiting to local conditions. NPTI have been conducting 52 week Graduate Engineers Course in the areas of Thermal Power Plant Engineering for the last four decades and have achieved a level of confidence and competence in conducting this course with consistency. Who Can Apply
a) The candidates who have obtained
B.Tech. /B.E in Mechanical/Electrical / Power Engineering or its equivalent. Those appearing in their final year examination can also apply and they must submit their final degree/provisional degree issued by University at the time of counseling.
b) Graduate Engineers sponsored by
PSUs/Private Power Utilities with at least one year post qualification experience as on 1st July 2013, and minimum 60% marks in B.E./B.Tech./equivalent degree.


SELECTION CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION The Admission to this P.G. Diploma course will be done on Merit basis of Common Entrance Test (CET-2013) followed by counseling at NPTI Nagpur. CET-2013 will be held on 23/06/13 at 8 cities where NPTI institutes are located i.e. Delhi, Faridabad, Nangal, Neyveli, Bangalore, Durgapur, Guwahati and Nagpur. The course fees is Rs. 2,00,000/- + Service Tax @12.36% for Non-sponsored and Rs. 3,10,000/- + Service Tax @12.36% for Sponsored candidates. The candidate who is allotted a seat during counseling will be required to deposit the 1st installment fee of Rs. 20,000/- + Service Tax @12.36% (sponsored/Non-sponsored) immediately without which admission will not be confirmed. The payment of fees is only through Demand Draft favoring “NPTI Nagpur”, (Non-Refundable) as confirmation fee for Admission. No other mode of payment is acceptable. The Non sponsored candidates will be required to pay the balance fees of Rs. 1,80,000+ Service Tax @12.36% in two equal installments (i.e. 2nd Installment of Rs. 90,000 + Service Tax @12.36% at time of joining the institute and 3rd Installment of Rs. 90,000/- + Service Tax @12.36% on or before 25/11/2013) in the admitted Institute. The sponsored candidate will be required to pay the balance fees of Rs. 2,90,000/- + Service Tax @12.36% at time of joining in the admitted Institute in single installment. COMMON ENTRANCE TEST (CET) The duration of CET will be 150 minutes. The question paper will consist of multiple choice objective questions. Each correct answer will be of two (2) marks. Incorrect answer will result in negative marking of half (1/2) a mark. The details and grouping about the question paper are given at page no. 13. ABOUT 18th BATCH The students undergoing this program grab the job opportunity even before the completion of the course. TOTAL SEATS The ratio of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Candidates will be 60:40. Reservation for SC /ST/ OBC/ Physically Challenged as per Govt. of India Norms. 25% seats are reserved for candidates sponsored from Power utilities having more than one year experience as on 1st July 2013 and more than 60% marks in Engineering Degree. The seat allocations of the institutes are shown below on Table.II. Reservation of seats in individual institutes would be displayed on PGDC website before counseling round. Table.II. AGE LIMIT
For the non sponsored candidates maximum age limit as on 01/Jul/2013 is 27 years. However, there is no age limit for the sponsored candidates. Relaxation to the reserved category candidate is as per Govt. of India norms.


HOW TO APPLY Applications are to be filled online from our website www.npticet.com .The registration fee is Rs.900/- to be paid in the form of demand draft drawn in favour of “NPTI Nagpur” payable at Nagpur and the details of the demand draft to be given while filling online application. Each applicant will be given a unique ID on successful registration at site. This ID must be preserved for future references. Last date for online registration is 20/04/2013. One registration hardcopy along with the Demand Draft should be sent to the Principal Director, National Power Training Institute (WR), Nagpur - 440022 latest by 03/05/2013 before 1600 Hrs. The registration shall be confirmed online only after the receipt of the hard copy of registration details with Demand Draft.

The result of CET-2013 for all candidates who appeared for the exam will be displayed on the website on 13/07/2013 for each individual only. However for counseling purpose the list of candidates in each category who are short listed for counseling based on their rank in CET-2013 will be displayed on or before 13/07/2013. COMMON ENTRANCE TEST-2013 (CET-2013) The admission for Post Graduate Diploma in Thermal Power Plant Engineering course shall be based on a common entrance test (CET) comprising 180 objective type questions to be answered in duration of 2½ hours (150 minutes). The proposed date for the common entrance test is 23/06/2013, 11 AM. The test shall be conducted at eight (8) cities though out India viz. 1. Faridabad,(Haryana) 2, NewDelhi, 3. Nangal(Punjab) 4.Neyveli(TN) 5. Bangalore 6. Duagapur (WB) 7. Guwhati(Assam) 8. Nagpur (Maha.). No TA/DA will be paid for attending Test / Counseling for PGDC admission process. Candidates are advised to reach exam centre well in advance to avoid in-convenience. Reporting time at Centre of examination is 10 AM. The Common Entrance Test shall test the Basic Aptitude, General Engineering and the Engineering Discipline knowledge of individuals. The questions are to be answered on the OMR sheets provided. Negative marking is also done to avoid random marking. Each of the marked correct answer shall be rewarded two (2) marks and a wrong marking shall be penalized by (-1/2) marks.
