BFA & MFA Bharatanatyam Sastra University, Thanjavur

MESSAGE FROM THE VICE-CHANCELLOR

Dear Learners,
Greetings!

We are very happy to invite you to join the Distance Education Programme of
SASTRA University. We have established the Directorate of Distance Education
to provide high quality education to those who are not able to enter the portals
of the conventional education system. SASTRA University has always been in
the forefront of higher education and all our professional programmes offered
through conventional mode have got recognition and national acclaim. This is
possible because of qualified faculty members and excellent infrastructural
facilities at SASTRA.

„Education for All‟ is our watchword and has propelled us to take education to
far reaching areas. Such an effort is possible only through Distance Mode of
Education. The Directorate of Distance Education at SASTRA will cater to the
individual needs of the learner. We are aware that self-learning is the most
suitable mode for a distance learner and to facilitate this with professional
competence, we have adopted Non Self-Instructional Material (Non SIM) pattern
for selected programmes. This University adopts transparent admission policy,
cost-effective programme fee, study centre facility and academic inputs from
experienced faculty. Multimedia facilities are also available with us to enhance
self-learning.

SASTRA University through Distance Education is committed to help the
learner in fulfilling his or her educational aspirations. We believe in
participatory approach and hence learning would be beneficial and fruitful.
„Compensate for missed opportunities in learning and enable career
development of all‟ is our motto.
Prof R.Sethuraman
Vice-chancellor FROM THE PROGRAMME DIRECTOR’S DESK

The Seventeenth century is the age of Enlightenment, the eighteenth century is
the age of Reasoning, the nineteenth century is the age of Reformation, the
twentieth century is the age of anxiety and the twenty first one is the age of
tension. To sublimate emotions of human beings Bharatanatyam lends a
helping hand irrespective of Caste, Creed and community. Nrityodaya feels
happy to meet the students of Bharatanatyam (both Under Graduate and Post
Graduate) of SASTRA University.

As the Programme Director & Professor Emeritus of this reputed University, I
join hands in preserving the cultural heritage, philosophical outlook and
historical antiquity through the gesture language of dance.

Bharatanatyam purifies body and mind and gives stamina to face challenges in
real life. It is not only a view of life but a way of life also. “Look! Listen and
Learn!” is the latest definition of Education. Bharatanatyam acts as a catalyst
to develop psycho motor skills of the learners to have proper perception and
better understanding of subjects they study.

Distance Education provides ample opportunity to have innovations through
self study. It helps the students to acquire Knowledge, Understanding,
Application and Skill development (KUAS) of the subjects in a congenial
atmosphere. The growing young men and women should make use of the
golden opportunity provided by Nrityodaya and SASTRA University and acquire
professional skill in Bhartatanatyam and become world renowned performing
artists. I am sure this unique programme will swell the national pride in its
learners & inspire adherence to our rich culture & heritage which is world
respected. Let Bharatha Mamunivar shower His choicest blessings on you!.

Programme Director & Professor Emeritus SASTRA University
